Senior Data Platform Engineer (f/m/d)
About the Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Data Platform Engineer to join our Data Group and help drive forward the evolution of our internal data platform. This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll be writing code, building tools, and shipping systems that make data more reliable, scalable, and user-friendly across the organization.
You’ll bring a combination of technical depth, data fluency, and platform thinking—not just designing solutions, but delivering them in production. Your work will directly empower our data teams and internal users by making the platform more usable, stable, and future-ready.
You’ll be part of a small, experienced team with end-to-end ownership and a growing focus on data as a product. You’ll help bring structure and stability while enabling innovation.
What to expect?
- Design and implement core components of the data platform with a focus on scalability, stability, and developer experience
- Write clean, maintainable code in Python and SQL to build orchestration workflows, internal tools, and data servicesv
- Build and maintain systems within the AWS ecosystem for data quality, observability, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform)
- Enhance platform resilience through strategic system improvements, to build a foundation for sustainable reliability as we scale.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers, DevOps, and Product teams to align platform features with user needs
- Contribute to the platform roadmap and continuously prioritize based on feedback, usage, and long-term maintainability
- Share best practices and support the team in building a thoughtful engineering culture
What you need to be successful
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, platform, or infrastructure roles
- Strong hands-on development skills in Python and SQL
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines with tools like Airflow, dbt, or Spark
- Familiarity with modern data lake/lakehouse architectures and table formats such as Apache Iceberg
- Proficiency with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS or GCP), including Terraform, Kubernetes, and CI/CD
- A pragmatic, reliable approach to system design, automation, and platform maintenance
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with data product thinking or internal platform development
- Familiarity with metadata management, data lineage, or data quality tooling
- Previous work in a small, high-ownership engineering team
- Background in software engineering (e.g., Go, Java, or Typescript)
