Location: 200 Aldersgate

Duration:  9-12 months

Working Hours: Full-time

 

Please note: Candidates must currently reside in the UK and be able to work in the UK without sponsorship. This is a flexible/hybrid role based in London (200 Aldersgate), with an average of three days per week spent in the office/onsite.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources undergraduate to join our People & Culture (P&C) team for their placement year. Ideal for a student on a placement or gap year, this role offers hands-on experience in a dynamic P&C environment, providing the chance to apply academic theory into real-world practice. You will gain exposure to a variety of HR functions across the full employee lifecycle, developing core skills essential for a future career in Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • P&C Administration & Record Management
    Maintain accurate employee records, ensuring all electronic HR files are up to date, compliant, and organised. Assist with archiving of inactive files in accordance with data retention policies.
  • First Point of Contact for P&C Queries
    Act as the primary contact for day-to-day HR administrative queries, providing a responsive and helpful service to employees and line managers.
  • P&C  System & Employee Lifecycle Support
    Update and maintain the HRIS and shared P&C folders, ensuring all employee changes (starters, leavers, internal moves) are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Offer & Contract Documentation
    Draft and issue employment offer letters, contracts of employment, and promotion letters, ensuring accuracy and adherence to internal templates and guidelines.
  • Employee Engagement & Events
    Contribute to the planning and execution of employee engagement initiatives, including social events such as the Summer and Christmas parties, wellbeing activities, and recognition schemes.
  • Pre-employment & Reference Checks
    Take ownership of all employment referencing processes, including managing incoming requests and ensuring timely responses.
  • Recruitment Support
    Support the recruitment lifecycle as needed. Assist with coordinating recruitment drives, attend university careers fairs, and collaborate with Learning & Development to align with future workforce needs.
  • Compliance & Confidentiality
    Ensure all P&C processes and data handling comply with relevant legislation (e.g. GDPR) and are managed with the highest level of confidentiality.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Currently studying for a degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related field, with a placement year as part of your programme or undertaking a structured gap year.
  • A proactive and organised individual who can manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable working independently as well as part of a supportive and collaborative team.
  • High attention to detail and strong administrative skills.
  • Clear and confident communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in people and organisational culture.
  • Demonstrates integrity and discretion when handling sensitive information.
