Summary: The Research and Development Manager will oversee activities related to the design and development of software or hardware products and ensure products are qualified or re-qualified. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to fulfill product requirements, evaluate performance, and facilitate the transition from development to commercialization. The position will also involve determining product delivery dates and serving as a technical consultant.

Responsibilities:

• Manage research and development activities for software or hardware product design and development.
• Evaluate product performance and facilitate the transition of products from development to commercialization.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product requirements are met.
• Determine product delivery and deployment dates for new releases, feature updates, and maintenance.
• Act as a technical consultant to the product organization, leading research and prototyping of innovative technologies.
• Align technology and architectural roadmaps with the product and business roadmaps.
• Serve as a customer liaison for technical issues related to product integration, custom development, and requirements.
• Lead major product releases and ensure feature enhancements meet customer requests.
• Manage schedules and tasks related to all aspects of product development.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in the high-tech industry, product engineering, or IT.
• Experience managing teams responsible for software and hardware design, engineering, and development functions.
• Strong leadership skills, with experience mentoring supervisors, project leads, and technical staff.
• Proven ability to manage multiple, complex projects as a project leader and subject matter expert.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work under general direction of senior-level management.
