We bring small-batch, restaurant-quality meals to eaters nationwide, crafted by a diverse collective of all-star chefs. With over 100 inspired chefs from cities like NYC, LA, Austin, and more, our weekly subscription offers a wide range of hand-crafted meals to cater to various palates and dietary preferences.

By delivering over 1 million meals per month, we're also empowering working chefs, tripling their income, and supporting their growth. CookUnity believes in fueling stronger communities, partnering with Food Bank For New York City to combat food insecurity across all five boroughs.

About The Team:

Our B2B department, established at the beginning of 2024, is on the brink of significant growth. 

Our mission is clear: reach $448k/month by H1 2025 and provide a stellar customer experience with limited pain on our operations.

The Role:

We are looking to hire our first Mobile Engineer to join our B2B team and lead the development of CookUnity's first-ever mobile application for our B2B clients. In this role, you will have the opportunity to build an application from scratch, crafting a well-designed, impactful experience that redefines how our clients interact with CookUnity.

As the lead for our mobile app initiative, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product and Design, to bring innovative ideas to life. You’ll make foundational decisions for the app’s architecture, user experience, and technology stack, laying the groundwork for a scalable and high-performing mobile application.

Your responsibilities will include driving the growth of our mobile business platform, setting the standard for excellence in mobile development, and championing best practices in performance, quality, and developer experience. This is a pivotal role in CookUnity’s journey to becoming a mobile-first organization, where your contributions will directly shape the success of our B2B operations and deliver a seamless, impactful experience to our clients.

Responsibilities:

• Lead Mobile Development:
  • Build and launch CookUnity’s first B2B mobile application from the ground up.
  • Design and implement the foundational architecture to ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability.
• Collaborate Across Teams:
  • Work closely with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to define requirements, develop features, and deliver an exceptional user experience.
  • Partner with stakeholders to align the mobile app’s goals with overall business objectives.
• Innovate and Experiment:
  • Explore and integrate cutting-edge technologies to deliver a world-class mobile experience.
  • Conduct user research and incorporate feedback to iteratively improve the app.
• Establish Mobile Best Practices:
  • Set development standards and guidelines for mobile app performance, reliability, and security.
  • Create reusable components and libraries to support efficient development.
• Focus on Quality and Testing:
  • Implement automated testing frameworks to ensure the app meets high-quality standards.
  • Monitor app performance and proactively identify and address bottlenecks or issues.
• Drive a Mobile-First Mindset:
  • Advocate for a mobile-first approach within the organization, influencing product and technical strategies to prioritize mobile solutions.
• Mentor and Guide Team Members:
  • Share expertise with team members to raise the technical bar and foster a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.
• Ensure App Performance:
  • Optimize the app for maximum speed, usability, and responsiveness across different devices and platforms.
• Stay Current with Industry Trends:
  • Keep up-to-date with advancements in mobile development technologies, tools, and frameworks to maintain a competitive edge.
• Support Business Growth:
  • Develop features and tools that drive adoption and engagement among B2B clients, contributing directly to the success of CookUnity’s B2B expansion goals.

Minimum Requirements:

• Proven Experience: 5+ years of experience in mobile development, including building and deploying mobile applications from scratch.
• Technical Expertise: Proficiency in native mobile development using React Native.
• Leadership Skills: Experience leading mobile projects and making foundational architectural decisions.
• UI/UX Knowledge: Strong understanding of mobile design principles, interface guidelines, and best practices for creating intuitive and engaging user experiences.
• Code Quality: Familiarity with writing clean, maintainable, and testable code, adhering to industry standards.
• Agile Methodology: Experience working in Agile development environments, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• English Proficiency: Advanced English skills for effective communication and collaboration in a global team.

Preferred Requirements:

• Cross-Platform Development: Experience with cross-platform frameworks like React Native.
• Backend Knowledge: Understanding of backend APIs, RESTful services, and GraphQL to effectively collaborate with backend engineers.
• Performance Optimization: Knowledge of performance profiling tools and techniques to optimize mobile app responsiveness and efficiency.
• CI/CD Experience: Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines for mobile applications to streamline deployments.
• App Store Management: Familiarity with app publishing and management processes for the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
• Database Experience: Knowledge of integrating local storage solutions like SQLite, Room, CoreData, or Realm for offline capabilities.
• Team Collaboration: Experience mentoring junior developers or leading small teams.
• Startup Experience: Familiarity with working in a fast-paced, startup environment.
• Analytics Integration: Experience integrating analytics tools like Firebase, Segment, or Mixpanel for tracking app usage and performance.
• Bonus Skills: Web development with ReactJs, Bitrise, Expo, Firebase.
