About the Role & Team
As part of the theScore team, you will be working with a team of smart, friendly, and dedicated Engineers, Product Managers and Designers determined to deliver some of the best apps the market has to offer. We want you to be challenged and to get the full experience of what it’s like to work at theScore!
Reliable live scores and stats are the lifeblood of theScore: nearly every feature we build depends on them. The Sports Core team sits at the center of our platform, ingesting live sports data, persisting it and making it available to all our other systems internally. The real-time nature of this work lends itself naturally to Elixir, and we’ve fully invested in taking advantage of the excellent concurrency and resilience it provides. If you’ve got some experience with Elixir, highly scalable systems, real-time data, (or all three!) we’d love to hear from you!

As a key member of our Sports Core team you will:
• Work with our preferred technology stack of Elixir, Phoenix, and LiveView. We also maintain some Ruby services that will eventually be migrated over.

• Build internal web tools in Phoenix/LiveView and Ruby on Rails to help other employees visualize and debug our data and systems.
• Participate in the design, architecture, and delivery of new features in a collaborative agile/scrum environment.
• Participate in pair programming to implement features and unblock team members.
• Deploy services and applications with Amazon EKS.
• Other duties as required.
About You:
• A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, distributed systems, algorithms and software design.
• Passionate about clean code architecture and software craftsmanship.
• Experience with modern web framework and API development (Elixir/Phoenix, Ruby on Rails, Sinatra, Django, Node).
• Experience with Git and GitHub or similar.
• A strong grasp and experience with relational databases; including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Experience with background job processing (Oban, Sidekiq, Celery, RabbitMQ).
• Comfortable working in the terminal.
• Proficiency within an editor of your choice.
