Director - Commercial & Supply Chain
At Coras, we fuse expertise with humanity, rigor with creativity and innovation with curiosity. At the core of our business is the belief that a diversity of perspectives is the key to new thinking. That’s why our team brings together deep industry experience with some of the brightest young minds in Australia. Our values are more than just words on an email signature; we’re driven by an ethos that inspires and governs everything we do.
The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Director to lead and grow our commercial capability in Canberra, with a focus on procurement, contracting and contract management within Defence and Commonwealth environments. This is a hybrid delivery and growth role, where you will both deliver high-quality commercial outcomes for clients and play a key role in building and shaping our presence in the Canberra market.
You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, leveraging your network and reputation to generate opportunities, while also remaining close to delivery - supporting complex programs across acquisition and sustainment. With the backing of an established consultancy and Partner oversight, you will have the opportunity to grow a capability area and make it your own.
Our Ideal Candidate:
You are a well-established commercial leader with deep experience in Defence and Commonwealth environments, and a reputation that opens doors. You bring a strong network, are known and respected in your field, and are comfortable initiating conversations that lead to meaningful work.
You are equally comfortable in the detail of delivery and at the front of the client, shaping opportunities and building long-term relationships. You understand how to navigate complex commercial environments and can provide credible, practical advice across the contract lifecycle.
Required skills and attributes include:
- Extensive experience in procurement, contracting and contract management within complex environments
- Strong working knowledge of ASDEFCON and Defence commercial frameworks, including relevant legislation, policy and governance
- Proven experience delivering complex end-to-end acquisition activities, including procurement strategy, tendering, evaluation, negotiation and commercial analysis
- Established Canberra-based Defence or Commonwealth network, with credibility to engage senior APS, Defence and industry stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to identify shape opportunities before they become formal procurements or requests
- Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to balance risk, compliance and delivery outcomes in complex environments
- Proven ability to build business and generate opportunities, not just deliver within existing work
- Comfortable operating in a growth environment, contributing to the development of capability, offerings and market presence
- High level of ownership, with the ability to operate autonomously and drive outcomes with minimal direction
- Ability to mentor and develop junior consultants, contributing to the growth of a high-performing local team
As a Defence consultancy, we also need you to be an Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain an AGSVA Security Clearance.
