Job Purpose
Cordros Asset Management Limited seeks a highly skilled and results-driven Equity Trader to manage trade execution, optimize portfolio performance, and implement sophisticated trading strategies. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in executing trades, monitoring market trends, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while maximizing returns for the firm’s investment strategies.
Responsibilities
- Execute buy and sell orders for equities and other securities across local and international markets.
- Monitor stock market trends, economic indicators, and corporate developments to identify profitable trading opportunities.
- Develop and implement trading strategies to enhance profitability and manage risks.
- Maintain a deep understanding of equity markets, macroeconomic factors, and sectoral trends impacting securities.
- Utilize analytical models, and market research tools to optimize execution and performance.
- Ensure best execution practices, trade settlement, and compliance with regulatory standards, including SEC and NGX rules.
- Collaborate with research analysts and portfolio managers to align trading decisions with investment strategies.
- Maintain strong relationships with brokers, market makers, and institutional clients.
- Provide real-time market commentary and trade performance reports to senior management.
- Manage trade execution costs and monitor liquidity conditions to optimize trading efficiency.
- Stay up to date with changes in market structure, trading regulations, and financial products
Job Requirements
Education
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A second degree (MBA/MSc) and/or completion of relevant professional certifications (CFA) will be an added advantage.
Work Experience
- Minimum 5 years of trading experience in equities or related financial instruments.
- Hands-on experience in executing trades on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX) and international exchanges.
- Strong familiarity with equity research, portfolio management, and risk management techniques.
- Experience working with Bloomberg, Reuters, or other financial trading platforms.
Key Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge
The incumbent must have proficiency knowledge in the following areas:
- Equity markets: Understanding of market microstructure, liquidity, and trading dynamics.
- Regulatory framework: Knowledge of NGX, SEC, and global financial market regulations.
- Technical and fundamental analysis: Ability to interpret financial statements, earnings reports, and macroeconomic indicators.
- Trading & order management systems: Experience with trading platforms such as Bloomberg Terminal, or other execution management systems.
Skills
The incumbent must demonstrate the following skills:
- Strong analytical and quantitative abilities to assess market trends and trading opportunities.
- Attention to detail and quick decision-making in high-pressure trading environments.
- Advanced Excel, VBA, Python, or SQL skills (preferred but not mandatory).
- Effective communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with portfolio managers and analysts.
- Strong risk management skills to mitigate potential losses and enhance trading strategies
