The Job

 

We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and collaborative Manager of Facility Services to supervise teams, projects, and maintenance tasks related to our data center facilities.  The maintenance supervisor is essential for achieving the company's maintenance goals, ensuring safety standards, and meeting operational objectives.

 

For each significant system, electrical, mechanical, facilities, and controls, the manager will assess, implement, and enhance the maintenance program to ensure the continued success of existing infrastructures and proper implementation of new infrastructure.  The Manager of Facility Services plays a crucial collaborative role in the reliability and performance of the data center facility.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Foster a team-oriented environment that encourages collaboration and support.
  • Coach and support staff in practical research, troubleshooting, and solution delivery methods. Provide training on the necessary systems, processes, tools, and procedures to document, track, and resolve reported issues while meeting operational service levels and standards.
  • Actively promote and adhere to safety policies and procedures.
  • Deliver the highest quality assurance and service-oriented standards.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of staff data entry, identifying coaching opportunities and correcting any errors.
  • Encourage open, respectful, and professional communication within the team and with coworkers, peers, and leaders across the organization.
  • Manage maintenance programs and software with Data Center Services and vendor partners to minimize complexity and reduce downtime.
  • Develop and execute cost-effective maintenance strategies that optimize infrastructure performance and extend its lifespan.
  • Validate maintenance performance by analyzing trends, operational history, and maintenance data.
  • Implement appropriate site response procedures based on potential critical system failures.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, Data Center Services, Construction, and Client Services to develop and execute infrastructure maintenance programs.
  • Capable of procuring external resources for facility problem resolution and providing progress updates.  
  • Establish an operational cadence to identify service vulnerabilities and proactively design remediation strategies.
  • Work with Data Center Services and vendor partners to analyze asset utilization, overall equipment effectiveness, and remaining useful life.
  • Evaluate necessary system component upgrades and maintenance to ensure reliability and counteract obsolescence.
  • Ensure that newly built facility systems have maintenance programs, asset labeling, and supporting roles for success.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with reliability to anticipate issues that could negatively impact data center operations.
  • Leverage knowledge of facility infrastructures to remotely troubleshoot and provide support to ground teams in the event of critical systems failures.
  • Lead and drive maintenance programs to extend infrastructure longevity.
  • Passionate about cutting-edge equipment and systems while keeping up with current technological trends.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

 

  • High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience required. 
  • 4+ years in Data Center Management, Facility Management, or another related field preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams, managing projects, and achieving results in previous roles required.
  • Knowledge of data center infrastructure elements, including Connectivity, One Line Diagrams, HVAC, UPS, ATS, static switches and generators required. 
  • The ability to clearly translate complex technical information in a way that your audience will understand required.
  • Incredible work ethic required.  
  • Ability to understand electrical testing data preferred.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office required.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems required.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and pre-employment drug screening.

Travel

Frequent and regular travel between all data centers at least 60% of the time.

 

 

Work Environment

This job operates in a data center environment and may be exposed to all types of inclement weather. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, smartphones, ladders, forklifts, and scissor lifts. 

 

 

 

 

Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. There isn’t a standard workweek because work demands depend on deployments, decommissions, buildouts, and emergency situations which may include evenings and weekends as job duties demand.
