RF and Microwave Engineer
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated engineer with a strong background in RF and microwave assembly and testing, as well as some high-frequency design and analysis skills. The candidate will work with a strong and established team of professional engineers on designing, assembling, testing, optimizing, and deploying the instrumentation and essential threat recognition software through several development phases.
The candidate will perform a wide variety of tasks necessary to complete a prototype system and then perform measurements to establish the operation, efficacy, and capabilities of the approach and the instrument. The candidate will then go on to assist in the design, development, and testing of a deployable system which will lead to a commercial product. The position is expected to last for two years with high potential for growth and follow-on employment at the company.
- Follow and understand the RF system level design and assembly drawings for the various modules that comprise the instrument.
- Assemble, test, and troubleshoot hardware and software in the course of putting together the modules that comprise the instrument
- Assist in bringing together several complex functional blocks including RFSoC, digital processing module, microwave back-end, THz front-end, and optical beam forming system to build up the full instrument platform
- Perform instrument tests on hidden objects and in realistic environmental conditions
- Work on a variety of other tasks and duties as needed including purchasing, lab stocking and maintenance, assisting other team members on subtasks, and other functions necessary for the support of the laboratory and the company
- Attend and present results and progress at bi-weekly meetings
- Be present in the laboratory on a daily basis
- College degree required. Master’s or PhD in RF electronics or related field acceptable with compensation in accord with experience and degree level
- Strong ability to problem solve and think creatively
- Highly skilled at electronics laboratory development work including the use of a broad range of RF test equipment, RF and electronics assembly (including soldering and PC board work), hardware/software interfacing, data storage, and analysis
- Willingness and propensity to learn and take on tasks that require development and use of new skills
- Ability to work on a team with a variety of technical people to solve a wide range of technical problems
- Motivated and interested in the success of the project
