CPI is one of the top 10 largest residential and commercial electronic security providers in the United States and has been proudly serving customers in the Southeast for over 30 years. The Business Project Manager is a high-impact, onsite role responsible for managing cross-functional projects to drive operational effectiveness, improve business processes, and support strategic initiatives. This individual will partner closely with stakeholders across all departments to define deliverables, create project plans with clear milestones, coordinate updates, and ensure timely execution.
Reporting to the President of Business Operations, this role will act as the central hub for project coordination—tracking progress, managing risks, and ensuring follow-through on open items to drive resolution. The ideal candidate is a driver who anticipates challenges, proactively engages resources to find answers and create solutions, communicates clearly, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Finance, IT, etc.) to align project goals, define deliverables, and set expectations.
- Develop comprehensive project plans with detailed timelines, resource needs, and milestone checkpoints. Maintain alignment with strategic objectives.
- Monitor project progress, prepare regular updates for stakeholders and leadership, and identify and address any roadblocks or risks.
- Ensure follow-up on all open items and hold team members accountable for assigned deliverables and timelines.
- Solicit inputs and proactively identify inefficiencies and opportunities for process optimization; partner with business leaders to prioritize and then design and implement effective solutions.
- Proactively assess project risks and develop contingency plans to reduce impact and ensure successful outcomes.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between departments; ensure seamless handoffs and coordination of tasks across teams.
- Maintain clear project documentation including charters, action items, issue logs, and post-project assessments. This should include resource requirements and transparency on resource utilization across teams.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Operations, Project Management, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience managing business or operational projects, preferably in a high-growth or service-based environment.
- Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering results on time and within scope. PMP certification is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and manage cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; ability to anticipate roadblocks and drive toward solutions.
- Experience with project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be onsite at CPI’s Charlotte, NC headquarters Monday–Friday.
What We Offer:
- Strong base compensation
- Ongoing specialized, paid training and career growth opportunities.
- Great medical, dental, vision, short- & long-term disability and life insurance options, PTO and 401(k) plan with company match
- Eligible for free monitored security system after 90 days
- Talk about perks! An on-site café, coffee/smoothie bar, walking trail, basketball court, and state-of-the-art fitness facility with a dedicated Fitness Director
