Facilities Maintenance Technician (1st Shift)

Position Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Technician will ensure Crescent facilities and equipment are maintained to expected performance and safety levels.  This includes maintaining routine and preventive maintenance programs, completed with necessary lock out tag out procedures and maintaining all expected safety controls (guarding, stops, etc.).   Work areas to be maintained to 5S standards.  Supporting snow and ice removal and remediation during inclement weather as well.  Good use of time management and task priority will ensure efficient use of time.

Basic Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment at all Crescent sites
  • Assist in developing preventative maintenance programs for facility and equipment
  • Completing preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with PM schedule
  • Handling basic repairs and maintenance
  • Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and correcting them
  • Repair machines, equipment, or structures as necessary
  • Assemble/build facility equipment (racking, desks, etc.)
  • Update and maintain Maintenance Request program (access provided by management)
  • Safety utilize Lock Out Tag Out procedures where required
  • Use all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required
  • Support work areas to meet 5S standards
  • Support snow and ice removal prior to shift startup or as directed
  • Use of on-line resources to understand equipment maintenance requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safety

  • Read and understand the Crescent Safety Playbook – Doing It Safe.
  • Ensure Safe and well-maintained Work Environment and conditions throughout all work spaces, facility and surrounding areas.
  • Actively participate in Safety Committee activities and initiatives and champion and engage all staff and employees in cultivating and promoting a Safety-First Culture.
  • Evaluate power industrial equipment and make recommendations of safe usage
  • Safe use of power and hand tools include but not limited: power drills, circular saw, chop saw and other small tools
  • Utilize the Lock Out Tag Out process where required.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance tasks are completed one time and correctly.
  • Ensure a clean and organized work space, and hold themselves to a high standard and lives the “leave work areas better than found them”.
  • Continually seek out and remove forms of risk created by our equipment and equipment setup

People

  • Instant repair of minor issues of people equipment. This includes ensuring that carts, ladders, poles, and other day to day equipment is maintained.
  • Routine evaluation of tool needs of people
  • Diagnose and resolve complex problems of maximizing materials needed by different groups
  • Communicate needs and offer solutions

  • Train or utilize support maintenance help effectively

Productivity

  • Support Cross Functional Teams to manage and prioritize staffing assignments to ensure customer demand and the production schedules are met.
  • Champion the Crescent Culture of Doing it Right, Doing it Safe and Doing it Well and abide by all written and understood policies and procedures.
  • Effectively estimate time of repair or installation of power industrial equipment
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained to ensure maximum usage
  • Recommendations on equipment, usage, or preventive maintenance to avoid down time
  • Support all Continuous Improvement (CI) effort

Quality

  • Ensure that all outside vendors repairs meet our expectations
  • Weights and measurements for all picking tools
  • Conduct periodic quality checks on equipment and systems to ensure everything is up to standard.
  • Completing preventative, predictive, and reactive industrial maintenance throughout the operation

Customer Value

  • Recommend industrial equipment to promote improvement to the service
  • Documenting completed work and the conditions found, utilizing maintenance computer software as necessary

Financial

  • Provide monthly needs of equipment needed for tasks
  • Research cost of materials; assist in placing orders for compressors, pumps, motors, parts, etc., with suppliers

Work Environment / Physical Demands

  • Fast paced environment, requiring adaptability to constant changes in schedules, volumes, staffing and shift requirements.
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arm’s length, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Able to sit, stand, bend, kneel routinely
  • Lift 10 to 50 pounds routinely
  • Will be around power industrial equipment routinely
  • Some janitorial requirements

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communications
  • Must be able to read and understand English
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
  • Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts
  • Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices.
  • Professional presentation and attitude
  • Ability to maintain focus while working individually

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6+ months of experience in similar role or education

We will know that the Maintenance Technician is successful if they can:

  • Complete general facility and equipment repairs and maintenance, including snow/ice removal
  • Maintain maintenance request and preventive maintenance programs
  • Follow all safety measures including use of LOTO and personal protective equipment
  • Use time wisely to ensure maximum project efficiency
