Quality Assurance Manager

Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Manager will lead the effort to develop, maintain, implement and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) ensuring customer, corporate and regulatory requirements are met. The Quality Assurance Manager will develop customer Quality standards and interfacing with the customer on a routine basis.  

The Quality Assurance Manager will ensure Quality processes and controls are in place to comply with Product Category regulations. 

The Quality Assurance Manager supports the Director of Crescent Way Service Quality Processes and Cross Functional Leaders and People aligning site Quality initiatives with corporate and customers goals. 

The site Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for understanding, measuring, monitoring and reporting Quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) preparing trend analysis and summary of corrective/preventative actions addressing nonconformances.  The Quality Assurance Manager will support the site’s Continuous Improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safety

  1. Read and understand the Crescent Safety Playbook – Doing It Safe.
  2. Ensure Safe and well-maintained Work Environment and conditions throughout all workspaces, facility and surrounding areas.
  3. Actively participate in Safety Committee activities and initiatives and champion and engage all staff and employees in cultivating and promoting a Safety-First Culture.

Quality 

  1. Manage and audit compliance to Crescent QMS to ensure Quality Programs and Systems are intact and satisfy applicable Regulatory and Customer requirements.
  2. Lead all applicable internal & external (third party, customer and Regulatory) Quality audits and visits.
  3. Measure, monitor and report and account for site Quality KPIs (Process Accuracy).
  4. Participate as an active member of the Project Start Up Team to ensure Quality considerations and Design Quality have been implemented prior to new project start.
  5. Create and manage new production specifications and requirements and train staff to ensure top quality (in specification) production and QA inspections are being adhered to and executed.
  6. Manage site nonconformance’s and CAPAs and lead investigations as necessary.
  7. Manage Departmental staff and monitor data and productivity of staff, improving team’s efficiency and effectiveness.
  8. Sustain and drive Lean Manufacturing and 5S activities driving Quality CI initiatives.
  9. Perform batch record review and batch release as required.

Productivity

  1. Support Cross Functional Teams to manage and prioritize Quality staffing assignments to ensure customer demand and the production schedules are met.
  2. Support and review material and workflow processes to ensure Design Quality and maximize production efficiencies.
  3. Champion the Crescent Culture of Doing it Right, Doing it Safe and Doing it Well and abide by all written and understood policies and procedures.
  4. Identify, drive and support all Continuous Improvement (CI) efforts.
  5. All other duties as assigned, including but not limited to the identification and training of an individual capable of successfully completing all stated Key Responsibilities as appropriate to maintain integrity of position for progression planning and coverage during times of absence.

People

  1. Participate in Crescent talent selection, talent development and recognition processes.
  2. Audit Site Training Program to ensure Crescent People have been appropriately trained to successfully satisfy required role and responsibilities as defined.
  3. Train and monitor staff as required and perform fair and accurate performance evaluations. Recognize and develop People so that all have the opportunity to meet their greatest potential while proactively addressing areas of conflict and underperformance.
  4. Promote a Work Environment where Crescent People are valued and can safely communicate, grow and develop.

Customer Value 

  1. Ensure processes, programs and controls are intact and executed to deliver top quality products to all Crescent customers.
  2. Manage all customer Quality relationships, reporting and communication to ensure customers are well informed with Crescent performance, challenges and CI initiatives.

 Financial

  1. Safeguard site Process Accuracy KPI to meet established targets.
  2. Improve organizational efficiency and waste reduction.
  3. Monitor variable spend on Quality Programs to ensure services and pricing needs are met and maximized.

All other duties as assigned, including but not limited to the identification and training of an individual capable of successfully completing all stated Key Responsibilities as appropriate to maintain integrity of position for progression planning and coverage during times of absence.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

Qualifications

Education & Experience:                                                                                                                   

  • Bachelor’s degree in science, business, engineering, or manufacturing
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience in manufacturing regulated products
  • Developing, implementing, monitoring and improving quality processes and systems
  • Hiring, developing and promoting direct reports
  • Experience with ERP/MRP Systems
  • Experience with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience in reading and interpreting assembly instructions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced understanding of GMP, QMS, HACCP, Food Safety. Food Defense certification or experience
  • Work within contract packaging environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written communication
  • Total Quality Management (TQM)
  • Analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • Lean Six Sigma yellow belt

Pay Range

$80,000 - $85,000 USD
