Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm
JOB SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Facility Automation Technician is to perform complex maintenance, service and repair to production operations equipment and machinery. Perform duties primarily at the Uxbridge, MA location; possibility of 10% travel supporting Fall River, MA location. More specifically, this position is directly responsible for the sites Cultivation, Processing, Laboratory, Kitchen and Packaging departments. Secondarily this position will support building automation systems when required. The Facility Automation Technician will report directly into the Sr Manager, Facility Maintenance.
CORE JOB DUTIES
- Performs monthly preventive maintenance and inspections on all major production equipment within one or more facilities.
- Independently applies skills, experience and general knowledge to a wide range of complex tasks to troubleshoot, adjust, install, repair, dissemble, replace, and reassemble and maintain equipment or facilities.
- Works with outside contractors when necessary.
- Performs all electromechanical maintenance / troubleshooting / validation functions
- Performs all machine coding maintenance / troubleshooting / validation functions
- May assist other departments and engineers with facility and mechanical tasks.
- Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation/modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
- Investigates, develops, and implements new process technologies of moderate to major scope.
- Devises new solution to problems encountered.
- Work independently to perform and complete assigned work orders in a timely manner.
- Providing guidance and training to facility staff on how to use and manage automated systems.
- Maintaining detailed records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities for future reference and compliance with regulations.
- May act as lead and provide guidance to other facility technicians.
- May identify electrical issues in systems or equipment as they occur.
- May perform unsupervised “walk through” of facility to monitor, check and report on conditions.
- Performs other functions as required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS
- Associate’s degree in manufacturing engineering, engineering technology, or related field; Bachelor's degree, a plus
- Minimum 3 years maintenance experience in a commercial, industrial, or manufacturing environment.
- Must be self-motivated and able to lead others.
- Able to work in a team environment and work with other departments within the company.
- Knowledge of automation, semi-automation systems (PLC, low voltage, pneumatic, hydraulic systems).
- Must have strong trouble shooting skills; effective solutions-based attitude and team-focus style
- Must possess excellent mechanical and basic electrical knowledge, aptitude, and principles.
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems and how they integrate into building automation.
- Experience in a warehouse setting, production line environment, GMP/SQF/OSHA/ISO; cannabis industry experience, a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to provide clear direction, to manage and track progress, and communicate outcomes
- Strong ability to multitask and work through constant interruption in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of basic computer and Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of CMMS and building automation systems is preferred
