
Middle Market Lending Originator - Mid-to-Senior Level

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Mid-to-Senior level Originator to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, structuring, and closing middle-market lending opportunities with private equity sponsors and corporate clients. This role requires a proven track record of building and managing relationships, a deep understanding of leveraged finance and M&A, and a strong ability to drive deal execution from origination to close.
Responsibilities
* Business Development & Origination: Proactively identify, source, and develop new middle-market lending opportunities, primarily through relationships with private equity sponsors, investment bankers, and other intermediaries.
* Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key industry contacts to generate a consistent pipeline of high-quality deal flow.
* Deal Structuring: Work with internal credit and underwriting teams to analyze potential transactions, assess credit risk, and structure customized financing solutions that meet the needs of both the client and the firm.
* Pipeline Management: Build and Manage a robust deal pipeline, ensuring timely progression of opportunities and providing regular updates to senior management.
* Due Diligence & Execution: Oversee the due diligence process and coordinate with legal, credit, operations and portfolio management teams to ensure efficient and effective transaction execution.
* Market Analysis: Stay current on market trends, competitor activity, and industry changes to identify new business opportunities and inform strategy.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with internal teams, including credit, legal, operations, and portfolio management, to ensure a seamless client experience and successful transaction completion.
Required Qualifications
* A bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. An MBA or CFA is a plus.
* 10+ years of experience in middle-market lending, leveraged finance, or investment banking.
* Demonstrated success in originating and closing leveraged loans, with a verifiable book of business.
* Extensive network of relationships with private equity firms, M&A advisors, and other relevant intermediaries.
* Deep understanding of credit analysis, financial modeling, and loan documentation.
* Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Key Competencies
* Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of the middle market landscape, competitive dynamics, and value drivers.
* Deep expertise in a specific industry sector (e.g., technology, healthcare, industrial services, business services, financial services, etc).
* Deal Execution: Proven ability to navigate the full lifecycle of a transaction, from initial screening to final closing.
* Relationship Building: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport quickly.
Compensation
The compensation for this role is highly competitive and includes a base salary, a significant performance-based bonus, and long-term incentives based on origination and portfolio performance.
