Plumber (Pipefitter)

Copper River Technologies is seeking a Plumber to perform a full range of journeyman-level tasks related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of utility systems, including water, sewage, and gas distribution. The role involves interpreting blueprints, planning system layouts, and executing work with minimal supervision to ensure compliance with applicable standards. This position will be located at the PWD in Kittery, Maine. 

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Install, modify, and repair water, sewage, and gas systems, including fixtures (e.g., toilets, sinks, water heaters, showers).
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and sketches to plan project scope.
  • Estimate labor and materials for projects and report deviations from trade standards.
  • Locate and repair leaks, clogs, and other issues in plumbing systems.
  • Utilize trade tools such as augers, hydrostatic pumps, gauges, and plumb bobs.
  • Ensure proper system functionality through precise sloping, venting, and routing.
  • Maintain safety standards and demonstrate proper use of tools and materials.
  • May train or supervise a helper or trainee.
  • Respond to emergency after-hours calls within two hours when on-call.
  • Maintain and manage stocked service truck (if assigned) and follow inventory control procedures.
  • Receive assignments from Regional Dispatch and follow dispatch protocols.

 

Requirements:

  • Journeyman-level knowledge of plumbing and pipefitting methods, techniques, and trade mathematics.
  • Proficient in interpreting technical diagrams and using plumbing hand/power tools.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts, including emergency on-call duty.

Physical & Work Environment:

  • Moderate physical effort; lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Frequent climbing, bending, stooping, and work in confined or elevated spaces.
  • Exposure to noise, weather extremes, poor ventilation, fumes, and potential hazards.
  • Required use of protective equipment such as gloves, goggles, and ear protection.
