Referral Clerk
Coho Integrated Solutions is seeking a highly organized Referral Clerk to support the Referral Management Center (RMC) at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. This position is responsible for processing, tracking, and coordinating medical referrals, ensuring compliance with Military Treatment Facility (MTF) policies, procedures, and timelines. The Referral Clerk will work closely with patients, providers, case managers, and leadership to facilitate specialty care, maintain accurate records, and produce required reports.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Review referrals for administrative completeness and confirm covered benefits prior to processing.
- Verify patient eligibility and schedule medical appointments for referred care.
- Provide instructions to patients and MTF personnel regarding referral procedures.
- Ensure referral results are returned to the referring provider and entered into the medical record within required timelines, following up as needed.
- Utilize referral tracking tools to collect data, calculate metrics, and compile monthly reports as directed.
- Participate in the Referral Management Program per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), ensuring adherence to established processes and timing requirements.
- Identify and track eligible beneficiaries authorized for specialty care outside MTF capabilities; enter accurate patient data into approved databases and EMRs.
- Generate and submit weekly reports, including:
- NMCCL referrals not activated
- Pending appointments
- No-show reports
- Maintain liaison with case managers to ensure coordinated communication and avoid duplication of efforts.
- Process Right of First Refusal (ROFR) network referrals in accordance with SOP guidelines, including provider research, patient data updates, specialty consult entry, and CLR processing.
- Attend weekly Referral Management leadership meetings to receive updates and address departmental issues.
- Monitor clinic queues to ensure referrals are closed at 120 days or, for deferred network cases, at 180 days.
Essential Job Qualifications and Requirements:
- Education:
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency.
- Certifications:
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
