Electrical Power Comptroller
Coho Technology Solutions is seeking a qualified Electrical Power Comptroller Contractor Support (EPCCS) professional to provide technical expertise in operating, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting power plant systems in support of Naval Base Ventura County – San Nicolas Island. This role involves hands-on work with electrical distribution systems, generators, transformers, substations, and associated equipment while ensuring compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) and Navy standards.
The EPCCS will play a critical role in supporting electrical outages, construction activities, and ongoing facility operations, requiring strong technical skills, safety awareness, and the ability to work independently in a mission-critical environment.
Responsibilities (including but are not limited to):
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled electrical power outages in support of construction and maintenance activities.
- Operate, maintain, and repair electrical power systems, including generators, transformers, switching stations, substations, distribution/transmission lines, and related equipment.
- Diagnose deficiencies, troubleshoot issues, and install devices, equipment, and system components.
- Utilize proper hand-eye coordination and sensory perception to safely operate equipment and perform repairs.
- Read, interpret, and apply standard construction blueprints, technical manuals, and operating procedures.
- Support compliance with NAVFAC SW Safety and Health Requirements Manual, as well as applicable DoD, Navy, and Federal regulations.
- Ensure safe, efficient, and effective use of tools, equipment, and protective devices.
- Coordinate with other trades to ensure system integration and operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Drive a motorized vehicle in support of daily operations and emergency responses.
Essential Job Qualifications and Requirements:
- Required Certifications
- Must possess and maintain a valid California “C” driver’s license.
- Experience and Skills Required:
- Proven experience and technical expertise in the electric power controller trade.
- Skilled in the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of power plant systems and equipment, including:
- Generators, transformers, and circuit breakers
- Switching stations and substations
- Distribution and transmission lines
- Control panels and building electrical systems
- Ability to compute utility-related requirements using basic mathematics.
- Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Work Environment:
- Remote site located on San Clemente Island, CA
- Travel to and from the island provided via government flight
- Work may involve exposure to environmental hazards and requires physical stamina
- Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of industry best practices, safety requirements, and regulatory compliance (NAVFAC, DoD, Navy standards).
- Familiarity with NAVFAC SW Safety and Health Requirement Manual and related directives.
Position Pay Range
$63 - $63 USD
