What you'll be doing:
At Crisis Text Line, the engineering, product, and design teams comprise the Build department. The vision of the group is to:
- Deliver the most trusted, innovative, and easy-to-use Crisis Care Platform in the industry and drive unprecedented levels of growth for people in need worldwide.
- Ensure that every user feels a sense of community on our platform, allowing us to build trust, and grow our impact.
- Enable our global affiliates to power their crisis support operations in an efficient and dynamic environment
- Provide a services/API-first architecture based on federated sources of data and infuses predictive insights (ML and otherwise) in every aspect of our Platform and Experience.

As a leader on our Data and Analytics teams, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how we use data to deliver insights. You will use your expertise in data pipelines, visualizations, and modeling to create data products that quantify the quality of our products in the effort to foster crisis support across the globe.

Responsibilities:
Crisis Text Line is a fast moving, growing organization with a big vision and a critical mission. To serve our mission and vision, each role must be agile and flexible to meet the needs of the business, aligning daily work with business priorities as defined by managers and team leaders.
Build & Mature Our Ability to Deliver Data Analytics and Products
- Define and build performant, scalable data models in the data warehouse
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data needs and deliver the right solution, from one time reporting to regularly updated dashboards
- Work with Design, Product, and Engineering to use data to tell the story of how CTL is scaling access to mental health support across the globe
- Partner with Platform and Data Engineering teams to create scalable integrations for bringing data into the data lake
- Effectively communicate to audiences including Engineers, Product, Senior Leadership, and external customers using written and verbal communication, and visualizations when appropriate
- Partner with Product and business stakeholders to codify and standardize data requirements in the form of SLOs/SLAs
- Advocate for and drive adoption of industry best practices, tooling, and processes
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2+ years managing Data Engineering, Data Analytics, or Data Science teams
- Knowledge of NLP techniques and commonly used AI/ML models
- 4 years of querying and modeling data using SQL
- 2 years using python for data analysis/data science (matplotlib, numpy, pandas)
- 2 years building data models for use in dashboarding tools (Looker, Sisense, PowerBI, Tableau, or similar). Bonus points if these were used by external customers.
- Familiar with distributed computing systems such as Spark (Scala, Pyspark)
- Ability to influence strategy and align stakeholders to evolve data use based on research, data, and industry trends
- Fluent with git (preferred) or other version control systems and practices
- Experience with pipeline orchestration tools such as Databricks Workflows or Airflow
- Experience with dimensional modeling and creating data marts for a variety of stakeholders
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and other observability practices for maintaining data pipelines in production
- Familiarity with CI/CD systems
Reliable High-Speed Internet Required: Must have a stable high-speed internet connection to support seamless remote collaboration, virtual meetings, online job tasks, etc.
The full salary range for this position, across all United States geographies, is $135,520 - $178,060 per year. The upper portion of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. Starting salary will vary by location, qualifications, and prior experience; during the interview process, candidates will learn the starting salary range applicable for their location. We pay competitively in the tech-forward nonprofit space and offer a robust benefits package.
