As Griffin Purnell continues to expand its reach and handle an increasing volume of high-stakes cases, the need for a dedicated Director of Operations has become paramount. This role is critical to ensuring the firm’s continued success by streamlining processes, driving efficiency, scaling the firm, and upholding the high standards of excellence that Griffin Purnell is known for. This position is not just about managing operations—it’s about shaping the future of the firm.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee all firm operations across three offices, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and optimal efficiency. This includes streamlining workflows, addressing operational challenges, and implementing systems that drive productivity and support the firm’s long-term success.
  • Financial Management: Oversee cash flow analysis, financial forecasting, payroll, taxes, and comprehensive financial reporting. Manage bookkeeping, profit-and-loss projections, and case expense tracking to ensure fiscal responsibility and transparency. Handle banking, credit card management, and insurance (health/E&O) processes to support the firm's operational stability and growth.
  • Human Resources: Lead hiring, onboarding, and employee development processes to build a strong and capable team. Oversee benefits administration, including health insurance, 401(k), and PTO management, ensuring employees receive comprehensive support and resources.
  • Process Development: Create, implement, and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to establish consistency and efficiency across firm-wide operations. Drive continuous process improvement by identifying inefficiencies, developing solutions, and ensuring best practices are upheld.
  • Vendor Management:  Manage contracts, monitor vendor performance, and coordinate services across offices to ensure seamless operations and maximum value. Negotiate with third-party vendors to secure cost-effective and high-quality services that align with the firm’s needs.
  • Performance Tracking: Monitor key metrics, including case progression timelines, intake conversion rates, and overall firm growth indicators, to evaluate operational effectiveness. Use data-driven insights to identify areas for improvement and ensure the firm meets its strategic objectives.
  • Strategic Growth: Collaborate with leadership to identify growth opportunities, scale operations, and break through growth ceilings. Support long-term planning and execution to drive sustainable success and expand the firm’s impact.
  • Compliance Management: Manage and ensure CLE compliance for the firm’s attorneys, overseeing all processes to maintain their professional licensure and uphold regulatory standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Foster a team-oriented and collaborative environment while effectively coordinating efforts across departments and offices.

 


What we’re looking for: 

  • Experience: At least 5-7 years in operational leadership, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment. Demonstrated expertise in finance, HR, and operations management. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong understanding of law firm processes, key performance indicators (KPIs), and the unique dynamics of legal operations.
  • Operational Excellence: Proven experience in driving process improvements by leveraging data-driven insights to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Skilled in monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify opportunities for growth and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Financial Expertise: Deep understanding of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing financial data to drive informed decision-making. Skilled in maintaining fiscal discipline and optimizing resource allocation to support the firm's growth and stability.
  • Ethical Integrity: Demonstrates unwavering ethics and professionalism, with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential data with discretion and care.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with diverse teams across multiple locations. Proven track record of fostering a collaborative, team-first culture that drives alignment and shared success.
  • Independence: Highly self-motivated and capable of working independently to achieve objectives while maintaining accountability and delivering consistent results. Thrives in dynamic environments with minimal supervision.
  • Solution-Oriented: A proactive problem solver who approaches challenges with a positive, solutions-oriented mindset. Demonstrates resilience and creativity in overcoming obstacles to achieve goals.
  • Technological Proficiency: Familiarity with operational tools and software for tracking KPIs, financial analysis, and process management.
