Stephens Law is a boutique personal injury firm in Fort Worth, Texas, led by founding attorney Jason Stephens. With a focus on catastrophic and wrongful-death cases — including high-stakes commercial-vehicle litigation — the firm combines strategic aggressive case pursuit with compassionate client care. Over the past two decades, Stephens Law has recovered more than $250 million for clients, including several record setting verdicts and settlements.

Operating from a beautiful headquarter office in Fort Worth with satellite offices in Weatherford and Mineral Wells, the firm maintains a low-volume, high-impact caseload to ensure personalized attention and exceptional results .

As our Director of Operations, you will work hand-in-hand with Jason Stephens, along with our Head of Litigation, and Director of Paralegals to streamline every facet of firm operations. You’ll spearhead AI integration, implement robust SOPs, and oversee intake, KPIs, case management, HR, marketing, finance, and special projects — all to free up our attorneys to focus on delivering life-changing outcomes.

What You’ll Do:

Operational Excellence & Process Design

  • Develop, document, and maintain SOPs for intake (Lead Docket), case management (CasePeer), finance (QuickBooks Online), and client communications (MailChimp).
  • Lead AI-driven efficiency initiatives, identifying automation opportunities across the firm.

Team Leadership & Culture

  • Mentor and manage cross-functional teams, including intake, pre-litigation, and paralegals, through weekly check-ins and performance management.
  • Design and implement comprehensive team development plans and clear career pathways.

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Own budgeting, forecasting, and P&L analysis; partner with the CPA or bring bookkeeping in-house where capable.
  • Create monthly financial dashboards for pre-litigation and litigation sides, tracking settlements, average case value, revenue growth, and cost efficiencies.

Client Experience & KPI Oversight

  • Enhance client satisfaction by refining welcome packages, defining SLAs for the client journey, and launching quarterly NPS and Google-review initiatives.
  • Track quantitative KPIs (profitability %, case cycle times) and qualitative projects (SOP development, referral programs, community outreach).

Cross-Departmental Coordination & Special Projects

  • Coordinate monthly all-hands meetings, marketing liaison meetings, and P&L reviews.
  • Lead strategic initiatives — such as marketing-vendor partnerships, referral-program improvements, and client-gifting programs — to keep the firm at the forefront of catastrophic personal injury advocacy.

What We’re Looking For:

Professional Experience

  • 5+ years at a Director level in operations, ideally within legal or personal injury law; high-caliber DOOs from other industries are welcome, as well.
  • Proven P&L ownership and cross-functional leadership, with hands-on experience in HR, marketing, sales support, and client-facing operations.

Technical & Strategic Acumen

  • Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks, CasePeer (or similar CRMs), Lead Docket (or similar Intake platforms), and modern AI tools.
  • Track record of implementing scalable SOPs, data-driven decision-making, and proactive problem-solving.

Leadership & Communication

  • Exceptional ability to inspire, mentor, and hold teams accountable in a collaborative, boutique-firm environment.
  • Excellent presentation and stakeholder-management skills, capable of translating complex strategies into clear action plans.

Cultural Fit & Values Alignment

  • Deep commitment to integrity, empathy, and client-first service—ensuring every process enhances client outcomes.
  • Ability to operate autonomously with a results-driven mindset, yet readily collaborate as part of a close-knit executive team.

Why You Should Work Here:

  • High-Impact Leadership: Shape the operational backbone of a firm that prioritizes quality over quantity, ensuring every client receives personalized attention.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Work directly with seasoned trial attorneys and paralegals to drive case outcomes and firm growth.
  • Innovative Environment: Pioneer AI and process innovations in a legal setting, with autonomy to implement cutting-edge solutions.
  • Professional Growth: Broaden your expertise — spanning finance, HR, marketing, and client services — within a supportive, collaborative culture.

Additional Perks:

  • PTO & Holidays:
    • 10+ days PTO
    • Firm-observed major holidays
    • Year-end “reset” break
  • Health Insurance:
    • 100% employer-paid PPO coverage (for individual)
  • Additional Perks:
    • Occasional company-sponsored lunches and ongoing professional development support.
  • Incentive Structure:
    • Firm Goals and Objectives Achievement:
      • A combo of quantitative and qualitative responsibilities, including, but not limited to:
        • Increasing case value
        • Improving client experience via measurable NPS-like score
        • PnL outcomes and reducing cost waste
    • EOY bonus based on overall firm performance

If you’re energized by the idea of shaping best-in-class processes, mentoring high-performing teams, and partnering closely with trial attorneys to deliver life-changing outcomes, Stephens Law wants to hear from you. In this pivotal role, you’ll wield your operational expertise to introduce efficiencies, spearhead AI-driven solutions, and continually refine every touchpoint of the client journey — ensuring our firm remains synonymous with excellence and integrity.
