At Joubert Law Firm, we’ve spent over two decades fighting for the injured across Baton Rouge and beyond. Led by decorated Army veteran and seasoned trial attorney John Joubert, our firm is known for its relentless pursuit of justice, compassionate client care, and results-driven representation in personal injury and insurance claims. From serious car accidents to complex premises liability cases, we help clients rebuild their lives with dignity and confidence.
Our fast-paced, team-oriented environment fuels our success. Every staff member—whether attorney, paralegal, or support—plays a critical role in delivering exceptional service and maintaining our reputation for excellence.
As our firm continues to grow, the Legal Assistant role has become essential to our operations. This team member will support attorneys, streamline casework, and ensure our clients receive the guidance and responsiveness they deserve. You’ll be joining a mission-driven team where your work makes a real impact—inside the office and in the lives of those we serve.
What you’ll do:
- Client Communication: Speak with clients regularly. Provide case updates. Answer questions and offer support. Help clients schedule medical appointments and coordinate property damage repairs.
- Document Preparation: Draft subpoenas, deposition notices, discovery requests and responses, and other legal documents. Format and proof documents for accuracy and professionalism.
- File Management: Open new case files. Order and organize police reports, medical records, and bills. Maintain clean, up-to-date records in Filevine.
- Task and Deadline Tracking: Monitor deadlines and important dates. Follow up on open tasks. Keep attorneys informed of case progress.
- Insurance and Provider Coordination: Report claims to insurance companies. Contact lienholders. Follow up with medical providers. Track communication and updates.

- Technology Use: Convert documents between formats. Complete digital forms. Use Microsoft Office and Filevine to manage tasks efficiently.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with intake, finance, and medical records departments. Share updates. Keep communication flowing across teams.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience: Bring at least one year of experience in a legal assistant or paralegal role. A Paralegal certificate isn’t required. This role is not suitable for those with a JD or plans to attend law school—we’re looking for long-term team players focused on the legal assistant path.
- Technical Skills: Use Microsoft Office 365 with ease. Learn new tools quickly. Convert Word files to PDF. Fill out digital forms accurately. Experience with Filevine is a plus, but not required.
- Communication & Organization: Write clearly. Speak professionally. Stay organized. Track deadlines, manage tasks, and keep things moving without constant oversight. Must have the ability to collaborate effectively with a close-knit team.
- Work Ethic & Attitude: Be kind, reliable, and detail-oriented. Take initiative. Stay focused in a fast-paced setting. Show up as a team player, free of drama and ego.
- Location: You must already live in or near the Baton Rouge area. This is an on-site role, and relocation is not offered.
Why you should work here:
- Impactful Work: Be part of a team dedicated to making a meaningful difference in clients’ lives by championing their rights and achieving justice.
- Collaborative Environment: Join a supportive team where everyone works cohesively to achieve common goals.
- Supportive Learning: Join a firm that values potential and invests in your growth through comprehensive training and support.
- Opportunities for Growth: Take advantage of annual reviews and opportunities to expand your skills in both legal and marketing areas.
Additional perks:
- Time Off: Enjoy paid time off to relax, recharge.
- Health & Wellness: Take care of yourself with comprehensive coverage and access to wellness perks that support your overall well-being.
- Financial: Plan for your future with a 401 (k) company match and financial benefits that have your back.
- Team Swag: Represent Joubert Law Firm with some swag and soak in a culture that’s collaborative, supportive, and fun.
At Joubert Law Firm, the Legal Assistant role is a vital part of our mission to serve and support those navigating some of the most difficult times in their lives. Whether you’re coordinating case logistics, communicating with clients, or ensuring deadlines are met, your work will help drive our team forward and deliver meaningful results.
If you're ready to bring your skills, heart, and hustle to a firm that values impact over ego, we’d love to meet you.
