Colburn Law advocates for individuals and families in personal injury and wrongful‑death matters from our Issaquah, WA office. Founded by our Managing Partner, we combine strategic legal expertise with genuine compassion—championing justice for clients affected by traumatic brain injuries, motor vehicle collisions, and more. Our firm is guided by three principles—We’ll Meet You Anywhere, Experience & Results You Can Trust, and No Fees Unless We Win Your Case—to ensure every interaction is accessible, reliable, and risk‑free for our clients.
With a “low‑volume, high‑attention” philosophy, we maintain a manageable caseload so that each victim receives the care and precision their case demands. Our collaborative culture encourages open communication and rapid problem‑solving—whether in our intake, pre‑litigation, or litigation teams.
Reporting to the Managing Partner within our Pre‑Litigation team, you’ll take ownership of case files once intake and initial setup are complete—guiding each matter through investigation, treatment tracking, demand preparation, and file closing.
What you’ll do:
Client Communication & Coordination: Maintain regular, compassionate updates with clients—tracking treatment progress, answering questions, and conveying next steps.
Drafting & Document Prep: Prepare settlement demands, compile medical chronologies and ledgers, and draft correspondence, pleadings, and motions as needed.
Records & Requests Management: Submit, track, and review public‑records requests and medical‑records/billings requests—ensuring completeness and accuracy.
Wage‑Loss & Insurance Follow‑Up: Obtain and review client wage‑loss information; liaise with insurers for policy details, payment ledgers, and claim updates.
Calendar & Deadline Oversight: Manage dockets across jurisdictions—tracking statutes, filing deadlines, and discovery cutoff dates.
Filevine & Systems Expertise: Keep digital case files current in Filevine; leverage Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite, and Zoom for efficient case workflows.
File Closing & Transition: Coordinate final disbursements and document retention; support administrative wrap‑up for closed matters.
What we’re looking for:
Experience: 3+ years in personal injury law as a paralegal (pre‑litigation focus), able to hit the ground running.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with Filevine (preferred), Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and e‑filing systems.
Legal Know‑How: Working knowledge of PI procedures, discovery protocols, and filing requirements.
Communication: Friendly yet confident style; ability to handle frustrated or vulnerable clients with empathy and professionalism.
Personal Attributes:
Empathy & Accountability: You step into our clients’ shoes and own every task to completion.
Direct & Respectful Communication: Speak candidly and honestly, without unnecessary formality, while maintaining professional courtesy.
Team Player: You collaborate seamlessly within our clubhouse‑style culture.
Work Arrangement: Hybrid schedule—first two weeks on‑site training, then a blend of in‑office and remote work.
Why you should work here:
Meaningful Impact: Your work directly helps injured individuals rebuild their lives with clarity and justice.
Collaborative Culture: Join a tight‑knit team that values mutual respect, open communication, and fun “no‑ass‑holes” camaraderie.
Professional Growth: Benefit from mentorship, weekly case check‑ins, and enrollment in Crisp Experience post‑90 days for six months of development support.
Competitive Compensation & Benefits:
Salary: $80,000–$100,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
Healthcare: 100% employer‑paid medical, dental, and vision premiums (employee only).
Retirement: 401(k) with 4% employer match.
Paid Time Off: Unlimited PTO after two years; structured PTO schedule prior.
Flexible Schedule: Hybrid work model with increasing remote flexibility over tenure.
