The Opportunity: Build the Engine for Growth
As our Director of Operations, your primary mission will be creating a model of efficiency that can be replicated for rapid growth. At the same time, you will unify operations and champion the practical adoption of generative AI across the entire firm, ensuring our teams are equipped with the best processes and technology to win.
This isn’t a maintenance role. This is a rare opportunity to build, implement, and lead transformative change inside a respected and ambitious law firm.
What you’ll do:
- Firmwide Operations & Structure: Serve as the bridge between partners and staff to reduce bottlenecks and improve communication, define and refine organizational structure, job roles, and reporting lines, standardize daily operations across departments (Criminal, PI, Immigration, Intake, Marketing, HR), implement firm-wide SOPs to drive consistency and alignment
- KPI Development & Accountability: Build and track KPIs across departments to monitor performance and inform decisions, use data to identify bottlenecks and improve productivity, create systems that promote visibility, accountability, and strategic alignment
- People Operations & Onboarding: Lead hiring, onboarding, and training efforts to reduce ramp-up time and improve retention, implement evaluation and promotion pathways, ensure team members have clarity on roles, expectations, and growth opportunities
- Technology & Systems Oversight: Oversee legal tech platforms (e.g., MyCase) and ensure smooth transitions and adoption, lead audits and process improvements to maximize efficiency and usability, support staff through training and automation
- Vendor, Financial & Referral Management: Manage vendor contracts for value and service quality, implement systems for receivables tracking, budgeting, and cash flow forecasting, develop a referral tracking system to manage partner relationships and revenue opportunities
- Departmental & Cultural Leadership: Support department leads and reduce silos between teams, provide operational oversight to under-supervised areas like marketing, intake, and investigations, strengthen firm culture by encouraging collaboration and monitoring morale
- Project & Growth Management: Lead firm initiatives such as office expansions and interdepartmental rollouts, ensure projects are aligned with strategic goals and deliver measurable outcomes, serve as the firm’s go-to implementer for high-impact operational improvements
- Lead AI & Technology Adoption:
- Champion Generative AI: Lead the firm-wide adoption of generative AI (e.g., ChatGPT for Teams). You will identify use cases, develop prompting best practices, train staff, and measure the impact on productivity.
- Optimize the Tech Stack: Own our legal tech ecosystem, from our core case management system (MyCase) to specialized AI tools (like EvenUp), driving adoption and ensuring we get maximum ROI.
- Automate Workflows: Audit key processes across departments to identify and implement automation opportunities, eliminating manual work and freeing up our legal talent to focus on high-value tasks.
What we’re looking for:
- Experience: 3-5+ years in an operations leadership role within a fast-paced professional services environment (legal, medical, financial, etc.), strong foundation in system-building, process implementation, and team management
- Operations Leadership: Proven ability to design and enforce SOPs that create structure, consistency, and scalability across departments or multi-site organizations
- Strategic Thinking: Skilled at identifying inefficiencies, turning big-picture goals into actionable strategies, and driving execution across diverse teams
- Hands-On Generative AI Expertise: You must have demonstrable, real-world experience using generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) to solve business problems. You can articulate specific projects, prompts, and measurable outcomes, and you understand both the power and the practical limitations of the technology.
- KPI & Performance Management: Experience developing and managing KPIs to evaluate performance, improve outcomes, and align departments around shared goals
- Team Development: Track record of creating onboarding systems, training processes, and promotion pathways that foster clarity, engagement, and retention
- Marketing Collaboration: Ability to partner with leadership to support marketing execution, improve intake processes, and evaluate effectiveness through ROI and alignment
- Financial Acumen: Comfortable managing vendor contracts, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and improving financial visibility through operational systems
- Tech-Savviness: Familiar with legal software platforms (e.g., MyCase), capable of driving adoption, optimizing usability, and leading process improvements through tech
