Quality Assurance Specialist

A QA (Copy Editor) reports to a QA Lead. Works closely with QA lead, QA Subject Matter Experts, other QA members, Project managers, designers, and developers to ensure QA standards and client satisfaction are delivered. He/She Provides execution of QA tasks with speed and great quality for the overall agility of the QA team.


 

You will

  • Copy editing: Verifying all materials for clarity of expression and consumer-friendliness, continuity of client product style over time and across print and digital media, fact checking content, as well as appropriateness of visuals/artwork within the context of the piece.
  • Proofreading: Verifying correct spelling, grammar and punctuation, and adherence to client-mandated guidelines.
  • Print production: Evaluate materials for pre-press readiness; confirm accuracy of print specs and versioning, including ink colors and coverage, trims, folds and bleeds; confirm digital color separations, including screens, gradients, and correct PMS and spot colors; confirm accuracy of personalization and lasered text.
  • Applying knowledge of best practices and communicating any potential quality issues to the team, as well as participating in quality-improvement initiatives and working collaboratively to propose and implement effective solutions.
  • Supporting the team in keeping current on client feedback, incorporating updates to client style guidelines and communicating them to the agency at large.
  • Interfacing with quality assurance analysts, project management, account management, creative, production and other agency departments to deliver error-free products.
  • Prioritizing assignments and meeting tight deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Exercising tact and diplomacy, and protecting confidential information.
  • May also review materials for corporate and in-house use — which include press releases, articles, newsletters and biographies — proofreading and rewriting copy as needed

 

You have:

  • English Proficiency (B2+ reading, writing, and conversation).
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, marketing or similar, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a proofreader/copy editor, preferably at an advertising or marketing agency. Experience with proofreading/editing marketing tactics such as email, display ads and direct mail is ideal.
  • Strong ability to meet deadlines in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent command of the English language concerning grammar, punctuation and vocabulary, and competency in using common reference and research tools (e.g., The Chicago Manual of Style, The AP Stylebook, internet search).
  • Experience with proofreading work for industries with rigorous legal standards is a plus (e.g., financial, automotive, pharmaceutical, healthcare).
  • Ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Experience with basic technical quality assurance work in marketing is a plus (e.g., testing emails for rendering and other errors, verifying HTML).
  • Effective communication/interpersonal skills to work across teams and disciplines.
  • Strong documentation skills with experience in Adobe Acrobat PDF and MS Word markups and basic skills with MS Excel. Workfront experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Spanish and the ability to spot basic grammatical and spelling errors in Spanish is a plus, though not required.
