Freelance Senior Designer, Email

The Critical Mass team creates applications which drive one of the world’s most trafficked websites. We play an active role helping our client connect their consumers globally through mobile, digital, and in-store experiences.

As a Senior Designer, you will work with the marketing team to integrate email campaigns into broader user experience strategies and digital marketing as a whole. You’ll be working closely and collaborating with the creative, technology, and marketing teams. You understand brand principles and style guideline and appreciate an exceptional systematic design rational.

This role is required to be onsite 5 days per week.


You will:

  • Lead the design and development of a range of marketing and transactional email communications, ensuring consistency with brand standards and maintaining high standards for typography, layout, and overall design quality.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to integrate email campaigns into broader digital marketing or user experience strategies.
  • Present design work and concepts to stakeholders, including creative, marketing, and development teams.
  • Maintain and enforce a rigorous level of pixel perfection in all email communications
  • Work within an established design system, ensuring all designs meet existing guidelines and standards.
  • Partner with copywriters to ensure a unified design aesthetic and tone of voice across all email communications.

You have:

  • Proven experience as a senior-level designer, with focus on email design and development.
  • Expertise in email design best practices, including responsive design and accessibility standards.
  • An eye for selecting and curating photography to fit and amplify the creative messaging strategy.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong understanding of typography and brand standards, with a keen eye for detail
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to convey design concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including copywriters, marketers, and developers.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to improving email design and functionality.
