Corporate Counsel

Recently acquired by Regent LP from John Wiley & Sons into an independent business, CrossKnowledge is searching for an experienced in-house Juriste D'entreprise / Corporate Counsel to support the company’s commercial contracting, procurement practices and to manage overall legal risk in the day-to-day operations of the company. The ideal candidate will be a skilled generalist with experience with employment law issues and data privacy in Europe. This role will be required to be in our office in Paris 2-3 days/week.
Location: Paris, France.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal advice to the business on a wide range of commercial and corporate matters.
- Negotiate and draft key commercial agreements, including content licensing (inbound & outbound), platform (SaaS) agreements, partnership, vendor, and customer contracts across various European countries and the world.
- Manage regulatory compliance and corporate governance processes in France and across the EU.
- Experience advising on data protection issues, intellectual property, and general commercial matters.
- Support senior management (including HR department) with strategic legal advice, risk assessments, and cross-functional initiatives.
- Any other duties may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements:
- Master 2 degree in Business Law or equivalent (5-year law-degree – U.S. LLM).
- Active license to practice law in a jurisdiction and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 8 years of legal experience, preferably in-house within a multinational company.
- Ability to work independently and advise a business in a pragmatic, efficient manner that facilitates the goals of the business.
- Fluency in both French and English, with strong drafting skills in both languages. Proficiency in other European languages highly desirable.
- Experience with Employment Law and support of European HR departments strongly preferred.
- Proven experience in corporate governance, contract law, and regulatory compliance
- Project management skills and the ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines in the face of competing priorities.
- Data Privacy / GDPR knowledge a significant plus.
