
Patient Support Specialist

The Patient Support Specialist serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service and administrative support. This position is responsible for scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, maintaining accurate patient records, processing payments, and facilitating communication between patients, providers, and internal departments to ensure positive patient experience.
Essential Duties:
- Collect, verify, and update patient demographic and insurance information. Register new patients and maintain accurate electronic health records. Ensure all required forms and documentation are completed.
- Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments in accordance with organizational protocols. Coordinate provider schedules and appointment availability. Confirm appointments and communicate scheduling changes to patients.
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and other patient payments. Process payment transactions and provide receipts. Communicate with billing departments to resolve discrepancies and obtain missing information. Insurance eligibility Verification experience.
- Perform data entry, document management, scanning, filing, and record maintenance. Prepare correspondence and reports as needed.
- Greet patients and visitors professionally and courteously. Respond to patient inquiries by phone, email, and in person. Assist patients with questions regarding services, insurance, and billing processes.
Requirements:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a healthcare administrative, Front Desk, or Call Center environment.
- Must be proficient in electronic health records (EHRs), scheduling systems, multi-line telephone systems, computers, fax machines, scanners, copiers, voicemail, and other standard office technology.
- Must be experienced working in a HIPPA protected environment.
