
SAP Training Expert and Technical Writer
Job Description
CSCI is seeking a skilled SAP Training Expert and Technical Writer to develop and deliver high-quality training materials and user documentation for SAP applications. This role bridges technical knowledge with instructional design, ensuring end-users across business functions are empowered to use SAP systems effectively and confidently. The ideal candidate has a strong background in technical writing and training development, specifically within SAP environments.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive training materials, manuals, job aids, and e-learning content for SAP modules
- Collaborate with SAP implementation teams, functional experts, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate technical information into user-friendly documentation
- Deliver live and virtual SAP training sessions tailored to various user groups, including end-users, super users, and administrators
- Ensure documentation aligns with current system functionality, business processes, and best practices
- Maintain version control of all training content and coordinate updates in response to system or process changes
- Provide post-training support, including troubleshooting user issues and updating FAQs or help desk documentation
- Support change management initiatives through effective communication and training strategies
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Information Technology, or related field (BS/BA required)
- 1–2 years of general experience in industry or government environments
- 3–5 years of proven experience in SAP Training Development and Technical Writing
- Strong understanding of SAP modules (e.g., FICO, MM, SD, HCM, etc.) and related business processes
- Proficiency in using SAP systems and tools to extract content for training purposes
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with instructional design methodologies and e-learning tools (e.g., Articulate, Captivate, or similar)
- Active Secret security clearance
- Creativity and adaptability in problem-solving
- Ability to work with clients to understand their needs
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Professional presence
Preferred Skills
- Experience with large-scale SAP implementations or upgrades
- Knowledge of government contracting or regulated industries
- Certification in instructional design, adult learning, or technical communication
- Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently
- Strong customer and vendor relationship skills
- Demonstrated ability to comply with data standards and policies
- Motivation to learn new technologies and methodologies that demonstrate value
- Past experience working with a federal agency
- Department of Defense experience is a plus!
