
Senior Data Security Specialist
Job Description
CSCI Consulting is looking for a Senior Data Security Specialist to take a lead role in safeguarding our information systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for executing procedures that ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of system assets. This includes protecting systems from intentional and unintentional access or destruction and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
The Senior Data Security Specialist will interface with the user community to assess their security needs, implement practical and effective security measures, and educate users on required procedures. The role requires a thorough understanding of enterprise security architecture, including user authentication, domain structures, digital signatures, and firewalls.
This role frequently reports to the Data Security Administration Manger and requires the ability to clearly communicate complex security issues and risk assessments to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Perform all necessary procedures to secure information systems from unauthorized access or alteration
- Monitor and administer enterprise security tools, specifically Broadcom TopSecret and ACF2
- Collaborate with users and technical teams to understand security requirements and design solutions that meet both business and compliance needs
- Ensure the user community understands and complies with established security protocols and procedures
- Conduct security evaluations and risk assessments to determine appropriate security levels for various systems and data classifications
- Maintain knowledge of evolving cybersecurity threats and adapt controls and procedures accordingly
- Participate in audits, incident response, and the development of disaster recovery and business continuity plans
- Provide expert input on security best practices and support compliance with industry standards and certifications
Minimum Requirements
- Broadcom TopSecret – Advanced knowledge of administration, rulesets, and auditing within TopSecret
- Broadcom ACF2 – Experience configuring and managing security within ACF2 environments
- Security Risk Assessment – Proficiency in evaluating security risks and implementing practical mitigation strategies
- User Security Awareness – Experience leading user education efforts and enforcing policy adherence
- CompTIA Security+ CE or an equivalent certification (e.g., CISSP, CISM, GIAC)
- Creativity and adaptability in problem-solving
- Ability to work with clients to understand their needs
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Professional presence
Preferred Skills
- 5+ years of experience in information security, particularly in mainframe or enterprise environments
- Familiarity with digital signatures, access control models, firewall theory, and configuration
- Strong analytical skills and ability to prioritize risks based on business impact
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently
- Strong customer and vendor relationship skills
- Demonstrated ability to comply with data standards and policies
- Motivation to learn new technologies and methodologies that demonstrate value
- Past experience working with a federal agency
- Department of Defense experience is a plus!
