JOB SUMMARY

The Chief Executive Officer provides leadership for all aspects of the company’s operations with an emphasis on long-term goals, growth, leadership development, client relations, productivity, financial performance, and return on investment. This position will report to the President and ESOP Board of Directors.

 

SUPVERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the ongoing operations of all divisions in the company (Admin, Engineering, Planning, Building and Fire).
  • Manage and direct the company towards its primary goals and objectives outlined in the value statement, vision and mission and strategic plan.
  • Oversee employment decisions at the executive level of the company.
  • Lead a team of executives to consider major decisions, including regions for growth, large-scale expansion and practice areas.
  • Promote communication and cooperation among practice divisions and regions to create a spirit of unity in the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the Board of Directors, ESOP Trustee and other executives to establish short-term objectives and long-range goals related to company operations in technical and administrative areas.
  • Present regular reports on the status of the company’s operations to the Board of Directors and executive team.
  • Oversee the organization’s financial structure, ensuring adequate and sound funding for the mission and goals of the company.
  • Participate in and manage all legal aspects of the company operations in contracts, human resource litigations, practice areas and all related areas of operations and practice
  • Review the financial results of all operations weekly, monthly, and quarterly comparing them with the company’s objectives and projections. Take appropriate measures to correct unsatisfactory financial performance and results.
  • Ensure the company’s compliance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, and standards.
  • Attend clients’ meetings when needed and negotiate with clients on an as-needed basis.
  • Serve as the company’s representative to the Board of Directors, employees, customers, the government, and the public.
  • Present five years financial projections to the Board of Directors and to the ESOP Trustees team.
  • Manage the annual audits, valuation, and compliance for the ESOP.
  • Perform other related duties to benefit the mission of the organization.
  • Attend various industry or business meetings in all practice areas.
  • Visit various offices and attend company functions in different regions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent managerial, technical areas, financial skills and the ability to take leadership over any business operations area.
  • Superlative communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate as a leader.
  • Thorough understanding of management and financial practices in all areas and various aspects of business operations.
  • Experience working with public agencies and private sector is required.
  • Executive level experience for a public agency and understanding public agency operations.
  • A Public Director’s work experience at a public agency is highly desired.

  • Decision-Making: Make clear, consistent decisions. Act with integrity in all decisions. Make timely, appropriate decisions considering all unintended consequences and stakeholders.
  • Strategic Planning and Organizing: Understand company vision and align priorities accordingly. Measure outcomes. Use feedback to redirect as required. Evaluate alternatives. Appropriately organize complex issues to desirable resolution. Lead resources to achieve goals of the strategic plan.
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid Class “C” California driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record is required.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Extensive professional experience in leadership roles.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, finance, planning, or civil engineering is required.
  • A graduate degree in business administration, finance, planning, or civil engineering is preferred, but not required.
  • Possession of a California Professional Engineer (PE) License is desired.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and accomplish business objectives.
  • Project management skills.
  • Previous work experience in an Employee-owned company is desired.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • General office environment.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Traveling to CSG’s different offices and to client sites, when needed.
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment with deadlines and multiple projects.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Salary Range

$260,000 - $300,000 USD
