HR Generalist, Toronto - CloudKitchens

Toronto

Who We Are

At City Storage Systems (CSS), we’re building the Infrastructure for Better Food—empowering restaurateurs across the globe to thrive in the digital food delivery world. Our mission is to make food more affordable, higher quality, and more convenient for everyone.

From entrepreneurs launching their first kitchens to global brands expanding rapidly, we provide the technology and infrastructure to help them succeed.

About The Role

We’re looking for a highly organized, people-focused HR Generalist to support and enhance the employee experience across our organization in Canada. Reporting into the Head of HR, you will play a critical role in executing core HR processes and driving operational excellence across the employee lifecycle; including onboarding, policy development, employee relations, and compliance.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in HR operations, systems (Workday is a plus), and cross-functional collaboration. You’ll act as a key point of contact for employees and managers, ensure data accuracy, and help scale HR programs that align with our company’s evolving needs. If you're proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about building a best-in-class workplace, we’d love to meet you.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as a key partner across the employee lifecycle, ensuring exceptional employee experiences through day-to-day HR operations and strategic program support

  • Work across multiple areas of HR including general HR program/policy development, administration, and compliance

  • Own core HR processes including onboarding, termination, records maintenance, employee relations, and internal communications

  • Coordinate rewards programs, relocation services, and HR-related training in partnership with relevant stakeholders

  • Act as the main point of contact for employee questions regarding HR programs and policies; escalate or redirect to the People Strategy and Operations team as needed

  • Provide operational support for cyclical People programs such as performance reviews, compensation planning, and engagement surveys

  • Partner with business leaders, cross-functional HR partners, and legal teams to build, optimize, and maintain processes and policies

  • Conduct exit interviews and synthesize insights into actionable feedback for leadership

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with HRBP, Talent Acquisition, and Payroll teams to ensure alignment and continuity in employee experience

  • Maintain and audit employee data in Workday and other HR systems, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality

  • Support People Team initiatives by coordinating logistics, tracking progress, and helping implement programs (e.g. DEI efforts, policy updates, learning & development rollouts)

  • Assist in the development and refinement of HR policies, procedures, and documentation to reflect evolving business needs

  • Leverage data and insights to identify trends, inform decision-making, and continuously improve internal processes

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, and maintain documentation to support audits or internal reviews

What We’re Looking For

✅ 5–7 years of progressive experience in HR operations or generalist roles

✅ Solid understanding of HR policies, practices, and Canadian labor laws

✅ Experience partnering with business leaders and cross-functional stakeholders

✅ Strong attention to detail with a process-oriented, compliance-focused mindset

✅ Hands-on experience with HRIS systems, ideally Workday

✅ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – able to build trust and rapport at all levels
