Head of People Technology

San Francisco

Who we are

Atoms is building the machines that power the next era of progress.

Over the last decade, software has transformed the digital world. But the physical world, where food is made, minerals are mined, goods are moved, and industries are run, remains far less intelligent, far less efficient, and far more constrained. We’re changing that.

Atoms builds Physical AI— real-world robots for the industries that move civilization forward, starting with food, mining, and transport. Our systems are designed to understand, predict, and control the real world with precision, turning complex physical operations into something more reliable, more scalable, and more productive.

This work requires more than robotics. It requires deep integration across hardware, software, AI, operations, manufacturing, and real estate. We don’t just build machines in a lab. We deploy them into real environments, operate them, learn from them, and improve them until they work at scale.

We are roboticists, engineers, operators, and builders. We believe the next great technology companies will not only transform information, but the physical systems that shape everyday life.

If you want to work on hard problems with real-world impact, join us.

What you’ll do

  • Set the HR technology strategy.
Own the Workday roadmap. Decide which modules to add or retire, which systems to integrate, and when to build in-house versus bring in an implementation partner.
  • Build new capability.
Design and deliver the forward-looking Workday modules and capabilities the company needs as it scales globally.
  • Raise the bar on what we already run.
Optimize the current system: audit the tenant, close configuration gaps, and drive adoption so Workday is a system people trust and actually use.
  • Own the integration layer.
Architect and maintain integrations between Workday and the surrounding stack, including recruiting, payroll providers, benefits, finance, and identity, using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, and APIs.
  • Stay hands-on.
Sit down and configure business processes, security, calculated fields, and reporting yourself, and set the standard for how your team builds.
  • Lead and grow the team.
Manage two lead configuration analysts in the US who run our largest projects, and a manager in the Philippines leading integrations and configuration support.
  • Run the platform well.
Own release management for Workday's biannual updates, data integrity, security, and audit readiness, and evaluate where Workday's newer AI and data capabilities can take work off our teams' plates.

What we're looking for

  • 8+ years of HRIS experience, with Workday as your primary platform. Workday experience is required for this role.
  • Hands-on implementation and configuration depth, including standing up new Workday modules rather than only maintaining an existing setup.
  • You have built and owned integrations into Workday using tools such as Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, and APIs.
  • You've grown HR systems through real scale, supporting a company as it moved from hundreds to thousands of employees, ideally across multiple countries.
  • Your career blends implementation consulting or partner-side work with in-house roles, ideally at both a large organization and a high-growth company.
  • You've led a team, including distributed or offshore members, and you're comfortable directing implementation partners.
  • You can go deep on configuration and hold your own in a strategy conversation with senior leaders.
  • Workday Pro certifications are a strong plus.

Why join us

At Atoms, you’ll work on one of the defining challenges of our time—bringing automation into the physical world to drive real, lasting impact. We exist to uncover valuable unknown truths and turn them into progress, which means constantly pushing beyond what’s known and building what doesn’t yet exist. The work is ambitious and often challenging, but it’s grounded in a shared sense of purpose and a team committed to seeing it through together. Our work only matters if it serves others, and we know that meaningful progress depends on the trust of the people we serve and the strength of our team—so we invest in both, creating an environment where you can do your best work and grow.
