Title: Tax Accountant

About the Role: Curaleaf is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Tax Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist with tax compliance, reporting, and planning initiatives while ensuring adherence to federal, state, and international tax regulations. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to deepen their tax knowledge in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide support for the income tax compliance process, including preparation of certain tax workpapers and calculations required for the preparation of all U.S. federal, state and local, and international tax returns, prepared by external advisors
- Preparation of federal and state estimated tax and extension payment calculations, ensuring timely and accurate submissions to tax authorities
- Assist with quarterly and annual tax provision (ASC 740) calculations and documentation
- Maintain and monitor tax calendar to ensure timely filing of all income tax, gross receipts tax, and other tax filings
- Research tax issues and changes in tax laws, and assess their impact on the company
- Support audits by responding to inquiries from taxing authorities and gathering documentation
- Maintain accurate tax records and support internal documentation requirements
- Work cross-functionally with accounting, legal, and operations teams on tax-related matters
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation in tax workflows
- Support tax planning initiatives and special projects as needed
What You’ll Bring:
- 1–3 years of relevant tax experience in public accounting or corporate tax department
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or pursuing CPA a plus)
- Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and state tax regulations; international tax a plus
- Experience with tax preparation and provision software (OneSource Income Tax and OneSource Tax Provision)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, expert in Excel with modeling and efficient spreadsheet usage
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
California Hiring Range
$78,000 - $86,000 USD
