Title: Paralegal
Location: Stamford, CT (On-site)
About the Role:
Curaleaf is currently seeking a qualified applicant to fill the position of Senior Paralegal-Labor & Employment Law. The paralegal will be responsible for a variety of legal-related activities in the U.S. to assist Curaleaf in minimizing its legal and reputational risks. The paralegal will interact with other attorneys and staff within legal and business partners outside of legal to help manage the day-to-day operations of the legal team and ensuring that Curaleaf remains in compliance with labor, employment and other relevant laws and regulations. The ideal candidate for this position has a strong work ethic, exceptional problem-solving skills and is comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic workplace.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide support to the U.S. labor & employment and contract attorneys.
- Conducting legal research, including 50 state surveys.
- Manage compliance with internal litigation holds.
- Coordinate document review and manage discovery requests for litigation matters and labor arbitrations including e-discovery and coordinating with in-house IT and outside counsel.
- Assist with investigations related to attorney demand letters, administrative charges of discrimination and other legal claims. Includes working with internal clients and coordinating with outside counsel.
- Draft various documents including template documents, cease and desist letters, company policies, responses to administrative charges and government agency investigations.
- Assist with drafting severance and release agreements including coordinating with payroll for payment tracking.
- Complete administrative duties such as file management, legal calendar management, dispute tracking, legal invoicing and tracking, litigation analysis and reporting to identify trends.
- Manage annual state registrations and reporting requirements.
- Assist with preparing training decks on labor and employment law topics.
- Assist with scheduling, tracking and data gathering related to third-party vulnerability assessments and action plans.
- Monitor third party election petition filings in the industry and identify labor trends.
- Manage labor arbitrations, including arbitrator selection, preparing exhibits, witnesses, and researching arbitration precedent.
- Assist with preparation of NLRB trials and act as liaison for outside counsel.
- Managing internal contract review requests and contract management system and assigning legal review to contracts attorneys.
- Be open to other duties as assigned related to special team projects.
What You’ll Bring:
- 10+ years working experience as a paralegal supporting an in-house labor & employment law team.
- Experience in contract management systems a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to take direction and work independently with little or no supervision
- Highly organized and detail-oriented – proactive follow-through a must
- Experience creating and maintaining spreadsheets/databases
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Power Point, Sharepoint and Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Notary Public a plus
Connecticut Hiring Range
$81,000 - $90,000 USD
