Title: Lead Processing Lab Technician
Starting Pay: $21.00/hr
Location: Tooele, UT
Job Type: Full Time | Non-Exempt
Shift: Monday-Friday | 7:00am - 3:30pm
Who You Are:
You’re a detail-oriented and dependable professional with a solid understanding of laboratory and extraction processes. You take ownership of daily operations, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance across all production activities. Hands-on and collaborative, you’re comfortable working with complex equipment and supporting a variety of extraction and processing tasks. With a strong work ethic and commitment to quality, you take pride in learning every aspect of the lab and helping the team operate efficiently and safely.
What You’ll Do:
As a Lead Processing Lab Technician at Curaleaf, you’ll play a key role in producing high-quality cannabis concentrates and extracts through safe, precise, and compliant extraction processes. You’ll oversee daily operations within the lab, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and adherence to all company and state regulations.
- Review production schedules, clarify specifications, and prepare plant materials and supplies for extraction
- Operate and monitor sophisticated extraction and purification equipment to produce terpene and cannabinoid-rich extracts
- Perform essential processing steps including ethanol addition, winterization, filtration, rotary evaporation, decarboxylation, and distillation
- Maintain, adjust, and repair lab equipment such as extraction vessels, chillers, ovens, balances, and vacuum pumps
- Support the development of new purification methods and in-process materials to drive innovation and product quality
- Manage and track inventory in state-issued cannabis systems, ensuring all materials and finished products are accurately recorded
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant lab environment following cGMP and safety standards
- Assist with vape formulation processes and oversee third-party testing submissions
- Lead, train, and support Lab Technicians, promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement
What You’ll Bring:
- 1–2 years of experience in a laboratory or manufacturing environment
- You have hands-on experience with supercritical extraction systems
- You bring a background in the cannabis industry or another highly regulated production setting
- You hold an OSHA 10/30 certification
- You’re detail-oriented, safety-minded, and thrive in a fast-paced, process-driven environment
Even Better If:
- You hold an associate’s degree in a related field
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time (8-10 hours per shift)
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and occasional lifting of heavier items with assistance
- Frequent and repetitive use of hands and wrists for extended periods of time
- Repetitive bending, squatting, and reaching
- Ability to climb ladders or step stools to access plants or equipment
- Ability to use required PPE when required, such as masks, hair nets, beard covers, respirators, boot covers, scrubs, non-slip shoes, and Tyvek suits as necessary
Environmental Conditions
- Exposure to environments with high humidity, varying temperatures, and strong odors (such as cannabis)
- Exposure to soil, water, fertilizer, dust, pollen and plant pathogens
- Exposure to cleaning solvents, such as high volumes of isopropyl alcohol
- Exposure to loud noises, including but not limited to air compressors, packaging equipment, and alarms
- Exposure to CO2 manufacturing procedures at OSHA approved CO2 levels
