Night Shift Machine Operator
Position: Machine Operator
Department: Finishing
Wage Rate: $17/hour
Shift: Evening 2:30pm – 11pm , Monday – Friday, may include weekends

TASK/FUNCTION DESCRIPTION: Responsible for various Packaging machines, including the Shanklin, Muller, Elsner etc. Tasks include Machine set up and tear down as well as managing a small team. Operators are also responsible for producing to standard performance and quality measurements. Operators must be able to understand and do paperwork correctly and need good written and oral skills. Operators must be able to clean and maintain machines on a regular basis. Operator must also maintain good relationships with other operators on all shifts.
COMMUNICATION: Operators must be able to speak clearly to overcome surrounding industrial noise levels. Operators must have good interpersonal skills.
LIFTING: Operators must use proper lifting techniques and be able to lift weights of up to 50 pounds (approximately 50% of work shift).
PUSH/PULL: Operators must be able to push/pull loads weighing up to 350 pounds on a handjack to position palletized materials for the next operation.
REACHING: Operators must be able to continuously reach to heights of 50 inches to prepare product for machine. Operators will be required to lift approx. 18 pounds while leaning over the machinery to load components. (Approximately 30%-40% of work shift).
STAND: Operators must be able to stand for the entirety of the assigned shift, with the possibility of overtime hours.
SIT: The job function neither requires nor allows for sitting, other than breaks in regular intervals.
BENDING: Operators must use proper lifting techniques to bend when picking up and/or moving materials (approximately 50% of work shift).
PIVOTING: Operators must be able to pivot on feet while pulling product from bins and pushing/pulling boxes on conveyor belt (approximately 55% of work shift) for the entire shift.
GRIPPING/GRASPING: Operators must be able to grip and grasp paper to load into the machinery. Also, the operators must be able to grip and grasp a pallet jack to be able to guide palletized materials to designated areas (approximately 40% of work shift).
KEYING: Operators must key accurate and timely information into various computer programs/reports.
WALK: Operators must be able to walk back and forth in their designated areas while carrying out their job function for their entire work shift.
ROTATION (FLEXIBILITY): Operators will be expected to perform other roles within the department including operations away from their machines. Operators may also be given temporary assignments to work in other areas such as CPS, SE OF, PDI OF, PZ.
VOLUME: Operators must be able to work at a steady pace while prioritizing tasks and issues at hand. Due to business needs overtime may be possible.
EXERCISE: Operators must be able to participate in and perform the daily exercise program.
COMPREHENSION: Operators must be able to read and write English. They must be able to write clearly and fill out production forms properly. Operators must be able to keep track of times use basic math skills to calculate accurate work times, quantities and counts. Operators must be able to take direction from the leadership team and operators.
