Over 8,000 companies—from scrappy startups to global brands—use Customer.io to send billions of emails, push notifications, in-app messages, and SMS every day. Our platform powers automated communication that people actually want to receive.

But building great software starts with building great teams. At Customer.io, we’re investing intentionally in how our people grow—accelerating leadership capability and helping employees build the skills they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving, AI-enabled world.

About the role

We’re hiring a Talent Development Program Manager to help us build and scale the programs that make this possible. This is not a traditional L&D role focused on maintaining existing training. This is a builder role. You’ll partner closely with the Director of Learning, Growth, and Development to design and launch high-impact programs while getting to own execution, facilitation, and continuous improvement.

You’ll play a foundational role in shaping how skill development and career growth evolve at Customer.io—and help create programs that enable our people to do the best work of their careers.

What you’ll do

  • Help Build the Future of Talent Development at Customer.io: Partner closely with the Director of Learning, Growth, and Development to design and scale programs that strengthen manager capability and support employee growth at every level. Contribute ideas that help shape our long-term talent development strategy.
  • Own and Execute High-Impact Programs End-to-End: Lead the execution of development programs from concept through delivery and iteration. Manage timelines, communications, logistics, and stakeholder coordination while ensuring an exceptional participant experience in a fully remote environment.
  • Facilitate Meaningful, Engaging Learning Experiences: Facilitate live workshops, cohort programs, and development sessions that are practical, engaging, and immediately applicable. Create learning environments where employees can reflect, practice new skills, and grow with confidence.
  • Support Critical Capability-Building Initiatives: Help design and run programs such as mentorship programs, AI capability training, and skill academies that strengthen the organization’s ability to adapt, lead, and innovate.
  • Translate Organizational Needs into Effective Programs: Partner with teams to help turn performance insights and evolving business needs into thoughtful development initiatives that improve team effectiveness and employee growth.
  • Continuously Improve and Scale What Works: Evaluate program effectiveness, identify opportunities for improvement, and help evolve our development programs as Customer.io continues to grow and scale.

What we’re looking for

  • Experienced Talent Development or Program Management Professional: 4–7+ years of experience in talent development, learning and development, leadership development, program management, or a related field.
  • Exceptional Facilitator and Learning Experience Designer: You have experience facilitating engaging learning experiences and know how to create environments where people feel comfortable learning, reflecting, and growing. You can translate complex ideas into clear, practical guidance.
  • Strong Program Builder and Executor: You’ve helped build or scale programs or initiatives and can independently manage execution from planning through delivery. You bring structure, follow-through, and attention to detail while staying focused on outcomes.
  • Strategic Thinker with Strong Curiosity: You naturally think beyond program logistics and are curious about how learning connects to organizational effectiveness, leadership capability, and business impact.
  • Clear Communicator and Trusted Partner: You communicate clearly, build trust quickly, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders across teams and levels.
  • Ownership Mindset and Builder Mentality: You’re energized by the opportunity to help build programs from early stages and improve them over time. You take initiative, operate independently, and are motivated by meaningful, high-impact work.

Bonus points for:

  • Experience building mentorship or career development programs
  • Experience leading AI capabilities training
  • Experience facilitating manager or leadership development programs
  • Experience working in remote-first or distributed organizations
  • Familiarity with modern learning tools or AI-enabled learning environments

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.

How do you know if you have a disability?
