Contract Legal Assistant

Americas Remote

General overview

Hi! I’m Brad, General Counsel here at Customer.io, and I’m looking for an amazing Legal Assistant contractor to join our small, but mighty Legal team. We’re excited to have the opportunity to add you to the team and teach you the ins-and-outs of a small legal department.

Customer.io’s Legal team is seeking a highly motivated Legal Assistant contractor to join our growing and innovative legal team. Reporting to the General Counsel, this role offers a unique opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in a fast-paced SaaS environment. You’ll work closely with the General Counsel, Legal Ops Manager, and Paralegal, contributing to a wide range of projects that support the company’s legal, compliance, and operational initiatives.

As a Legal Assistant contractor, you will tackle projects that directly support Legal’s goals—such as contract management, legal operations, and privacy compliance—while collaborating with cross-functional teams, honing your technical skills, and receiving mentorship.

You’ll gain hands-on experience with contract lifecycle management tools like LinkSquares, support privacy and security assessments, and develop strong organizational and communication skills. You’ll also learn best practices in legal operations, contract negotiations, and remote collaboration within a fast-paced SaaS environment.

Some of the things you'll do

  • Assist with contract organization and data hygiene as part of our legacy migration project to LinkSquares.

  • Review and archive legacy and outdated templates and documents from Google Drive to streamline internal file systems.

  • Shadow the General Counsel and Paralegal in real-time contract negotiations and related stakeholder interactions.

  • Support the legal team in managing shared inboxes, including triaging, tagging, and responding to routine inquiries.

  • Initiate and coordinate customer security assessments using Conveyor and other intake tools.

About You

  • Interest in corporate, contract, or technology law.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

What we're looking for

  • Interest or experience in legal tech platforms (e.g., LinkSquares, Conveyor) is a plus.

Logistics

  • Hours: 40 hours/week at $30–$35/hour

  • Location: Remote

  • Contract: Temporary coverage through the end of 2026

  • Collaboration: Works closely with the General Counsel, Legal Ops Manager, and Paralegal

All final candidates will be asked to complete a background check and employment verifications as part of our pre-employment process.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
