The Company has experienced rapid growth over the past 3 years and recently received a strategic investment from Main Street Capital Corporation (NYSE: MAIN). In addition to our recent growth in Federal Civilian agencies, we are seeking to expand our capabilities in cloud development and footprint in national-security focused agencies within the Department of Defense and U.S. Intelligence Community.

CTEC develops and delivers innovative customer-centric technologies and solutions that facilitate the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).

Job Summary:

 The Solutions Architect is the principal architect of large and complex hardware, software, database, networking, and/or telecommunication solutions. Determines Laboratory-wide requirements and incorporates these requirements into solutions that may be commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) or internally developed software and hardware. May be responsible for project management and implementing complex solutions. May be responsible for oversight of project documentation, marketing, training, budget, schedules, resource utilization, and benefits realization on complex solutions projects.
Has wide-ranging experience and uses professional concepts and Laboratory objectives to resolve complex issues creatively and effectively. Frequently contributes to the development of new theories and methods. Considered an expert in the field within the organization. Develops resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity and where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Work is accomplished without considerable direction. May coordinate activities of other personnel. Exerts significant latitude in determining assignment objectives and the methods and procedures needed for new assignments.
Our work at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) matters to our country and the world! The Innovative Customer Experience (ICE) Division seeks a dynamic leader. You will implement, manage, and optimize security controls across our Azure cloud environment. You will work closely with IT teams, DevOps, and cloud architects to secure our infrastructure, applications, and data on Microsoft Azure. You'll leverage your expertise in Azure security services and best practices to protect against cyber threats and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
ICE division consists of more than 350 talented Solution Architects, Computer Systems Professionals, and Computer System Technician employees who provide the varied Laboratory organizations with Information Technology experts who design, build, and support their mission-driven technical needs on the unclassified and classified networks through several different service touchpoints. In addition, optimize the use of information technology, ensure seamless delivery and operation of IT services by monitoring system performance, applying configuration management practices, and creating processes and standards for selection and implementation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Design and implement cloud-native solutions, focusing on scalability, cost efficiency, and security in Azure.
• Manage and optimize security controls across the Azure cloud environment.
• Monitor, investigate, and respond to security incidents within Azure environments using native tools (e.g., Azure Security Center, Sentinel).
• Collaborate with IT teams, DevOps, and cloud architects to secure infrastructure, applications, and data.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and protect against cyber threats.
• Oversee project documentation, marketing, training, budget, schedules, resource utilization, and benefits realization on complex solutions projects.
• Coordinate activities of other personnel and guide as needed.

Skills & Work Experience:

• Position requires a bachelor's degree and 10 to 15+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level, post-graduate coursework may be desirable.
• Proven hands-on experience working with Microsoft Azure services (e.g., VMs, Azure Functions, App Services, Storage, Networking, AKS).
• Strong understanding of network security concepts (VPNs, firewalls, load balancers).
• Experience in Incident Response & Threat Detection.
• Experience with designing and implementing cloud-native solutions.
• Experience monitoring, investigating, and responding to security incidents within Azure environments using native tools (e.g., Azure Security Center, Sentinel).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with security in multi-cloud environments (Azure + AWS).
• Knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD security best practices.
• Strong experience with Azure security services (e.g., Azure Security Center, Azure Sentinel, Azure Key Vault, Azure Firewall).
• Experience with identity and access management (IAM) in Azure AD.
• Additional certifications such as CISSP and CISM are desired.

Clearance: Must be able to obtain Public Trust Clearance.

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday
