Cytokinetics is a late-stage, specialty cardiovascular biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing and commercializing first-in-class muscle activators and next-in-class muscle inhibitors as potential treatments for debilitating diseases in which cardiac muscle performance is compromised. This is a paid internship at our South San Francisco headquarters. The program is for approximately 12 weeks beginning in late May/early June.

Job Description

The intern will have an opportunity to:

  • Work on and learn about preclinical drug discovery projects in the areas of muscle biology and metabolism
  • Be involved in developing and performing cellular and biochemical assays to determine potency and function of small molecule compounds
  • Utilize automated liquid handling to perform high-throughput screening
  • Perform molecular biology techniques and utilize lab instrumentation
  • Analyze scientific data, maintaining lab notebook records and data presentation

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a college program with science related major
  • Coursework in biology/biochemistry/lab courses or have lab experience
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture preferred
  • Must be detail oriented and have a proactive attitude in support of research activities and running assays
  • Highly focused, organized and motivated team player with good time management skills
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to troubleshoot problems with team members
  • Experience in data analysis and/or presentation

Actual salary at the time of hire may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant qualifications, skills, and experience, as well as the service line and location where this position may be filled.

Salary Pay Range

$22 - $45 USD
