Contract Environmental Health and Safety Specialist/Sr EHS Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated individual for the role of Contract EHS Specialist/Sr EHS Specialist, to assist managing Cytokinetics’ site environmental health and safety programs. This role reports directly to the Associate Director of EH&S.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

• Participate in regulatory inspections and inquiries involving environmental, health, and safety issues.
• Develop working relationships with site functional groups and work to support EHS initiatives.
• Oversee site environmental programs including hazardous waste.
• Support the effective integration of EHS into the day-to-day management and meeting structures within the functional areas.
• Perform site inspections and recommend, monitor and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), as required and ensure completion.
• Implement EHS programs and initiatives including but not limited to: Hazard identification/risk assessment and planning/implementation of controls, Lockout Tagout, confined space, work permits, machine guarding, electrical safety, fall protection, powered industrial trucks.
• Develops and delivers EHS training on a wide variety of general safety topics including physical safety programs.
• Conduct investigations of accidents, incidents, significant events, and emergencies promptly in accordance with company policies and/or applicable laws and regulations. 
• Assist with implementing systems, procedures, and work practices to ensure an “audit-ready” state of compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years experience in environmental health and safety or related field.
• Experience working within life sciences or pharma R&D environment is highly desirable.
• Strong program and change management skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities.

*This role requires 5 days/week in the South San Francisco office.
