Senior Front-End Software Engineer

The Role

CytoTronics is seeking a highly motivated experienced Senior Software Engineer with a background in building high-quality user-centric web applications. As a member of a small and dynamic team, the ideal candidate will also have experience driving UI/UX design and working with full-stack engineers in a multidisciplinary environment to deliver seamless, efficient, and scalable solutions.

As a Front-end Software Engineer at CytoTronics, you will be an early hands-on contributor in the design and implementation of the software stack that enables our users to accelerate discovery of new drugs and therapeutics. 

You will work closely with biology and data science teams to integrate data analysis pipelines and implement new user interfaces for cell biologists to visualize, process, and analyze data generated by Pixel.

You will interface with and contribute to the cloud backend that handles the multiple terabytes of data generated by our instruments.

In practice, you will be building a state-of-the-art cell biology analysis tool on a distributed cloud-based environment. You will support building an ever-growing suite of data analysis tools, to transform the raw data (e.g., images, videos, time-series measurements) into biologically meaningful insights.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science or related field 
  • 5+ years of professional front-end or full-stack software engineering experience
  • Experience in a start-up environment 
  • Experience with UI/UX design 
  • Proficient in React.js, TypeScript or JavaScript, and Python (our primary language)

  • You are a veteran software engineer. You have worked in multiple software environments and thrive in an early startup full of impact and fun engineering problems.
  • You have strong front-end development skills, along with the skills to dig deeper in the stack.
  • You have a track record of applying UX best practices to create effective web UIs
  • You have the curiosity to go down the technology stack, identify where to be proactive, develop creative solutions, and improvements that have immediate impact.
  • You are an engineer who can take ownership of large features while closely collaborating with other stakeholders, taking care in planning and testing for reliability and pushing for production.
  • You are a polyglot and a user of multiple programming languages and technologies, and you are an expert in:
    • React.js
    • TypeScript or JavaScript
    • Python (our primary language)
  • You are comfortable contributing to and being a part of DevOps activities and you have a knack for continuously improving the CI/CD process.

  • Signal / Image Processing, Scientific Data Analysis, Bioinformatics, Data Visualization
  • Cloud integration (AWS preferred), Distributed Systems
  • Software for scientific / analytical / imaging devices
  • Cloud infrastructure DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, etc.
