The company raise $9.25M in Series Seed 1 in Q4 2021 then closed $13.5M in the Series Seed 2 in Q3 2024. The company will initiate conversations on the Series-A financing with select and target investors at the JPMorgan Healthcare conference in January 2025. The VP, Finance should have past successful experience in the fundraising effort for a hardware-based technology venture, ideally in the life sciences.
About the Role
The VP, Finance at CytoTronics will report to the CEO and will play a key role in driving the company’s financial strategy and operational success as we continue to scale. The VP, Finance will be responsible for expanding and strengthening the finance function to support the next phase of growth. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact by building on existing financial frameworks and supporting capital market activities.
The successful candidate will join the executive leadership team and actively participate in all board meetings. As VP, Finance, your contributions will play a critical role in scaling the company and navigating future financing rounds. The leadership team envisions this role evolving into a potential CFO position as the company continues to grow.
This role is based in our office in Boston’s Southend but will relocated to the Boston Seaport area in March 2025.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and strengthen budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and accounting operations.
- Develop financial models to guide the company’s strategy and decision-making, providing forward-looking insights.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations and accounting standards.
- Partner with the executive team to support key business decisions, including contract negotiations and strategic initiatives.
- Manage cash flow and ensure adequate funding to support the company’s growth initiatives.
- Work closely with the C-Suite on fundraising efforts, including preparing financial materials for potential investors, managing relationships with current investors, and ensuring compliance with investor expectations.
- Develop and track key financial metrics, reporting to the CEO, and Board of Directors on business performance.
- Oversee audit processes and build relationships with external auditors to ensure timely and efficient audit completion.
- Work closely with the CBO (sales, marketing, applications, channels, product management) as a business partner on all aspects from business modelling, to compensation plans, reseller agreements and collaboration contracts.
- Ensure that the company is compliant with all relevant financial regulations, and manage risks related to financial operations and reporting.
Qualifications
- CPA preferred, MBA is a plus.
- 7+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, ideally in a high-growth startup or early-stage company.
- Proven ability to lead financial planning, analysis, and budgeting processes in a dynamic environment.
- Experience building financial infrastructure from the ground up, with a strong knowledge of GAAP and other financial regulations.
- Exposure to capital markets and fundraising activities, with a solid understanding of investor relations.
- Experience working in biotechnology, life sciences, or medical device industries is a plus.
- Hands-on leader with experience building and scaling finance teams.
- Strong analytical, strategic, and communication skills, with the ability to translate financial insights into actionable business decisions.
