
Postdoctoral Fellow, Functional Immunogenomics (Biohub Chicago)

The Opportunity
The Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Chicago is seeking outstanding early-career scientists to join and participate in the launch of the Biohub Chicago by continuing their training as Postdoctoral Fellow for the Functional Immunogenomics team.
What You'll Do
- Generate knockout (KO), knock-in (KI), and overexpression cell models for functional and phenotypic hit validation
- Develop and optimize multi-color flow cytometry-based assays to analyze cell surface markers, intracellular cytokines, and other functional parameters in primary or iPSC-derived immune cells
- Culture, maintain, and genetically manipulate primary and immortalized cell lines from skin, immune, and neuronal origins
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team — including experts in engineering, functional genomics, bioinformatics, and disease biology — to contribute to hit validation and technology development projects
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and well-organized documentation of all experiments and protocols
You have
Essential -
- PhD in a relevant discipline of life sciences
- 0-2 years of postdoctoral experience
- 1 years of CRISPR experience
- A first-author publication (published or in-press) in immunology or a related field that demonstrates strong critical thinking and experimental design skills
- Hands-on experience with multi-color flow cytometry and culture of primary immune cells (e.g., macrophages, NK cells, T cells)
- Familiarity with CRISPR technologies and delivery methods, including lentiviral vectors and RNPs
Nice to have -
- Experience with murine models, including handling and dosing
- Exposure to single-cell omics, spatial transcriptomics, and/or high-content imaging data analysis
Compensation
The Chicago, IL base pay range for this role is $75,000.00. New hires are typically hired into the lower portion of the range, enabling employee growth in the range over time. Actual placement in range is based on job-related skills and experience, as evaluated throughout the interview process.
