Purpose

The Configuration Engineer is responsible for the management of product data and configuration processes that enable the effective development, production, and evolution of our Hypercar programs throughout the product lifecycle. This includes product definition, Bills of Materials, variants and options, engineering change, and customer specification management.

The Role

  • Own and maintain product configuration and definition, including engineering BOMs, product structures, part and revision data, variants and options, configuration logic, effectivity, and customer specifications throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Ensure the integrity of product data by working with engineering teams to identify and resolve incomplete product definitions, configuration gaps, inconsistencies, and data quality issues, developing the product and vehicle-system understanding needed to identify issues proactively.
  • Own engineering change implementation by analyzing impacts to parts, assemblies, vehicle configurations, production builds, inventory, procurement, and timing; defining appropriate introduction and effectivity plans; and coordinating changes from release through implementation.
  • Support product development and production execution across existing production models, new model and variant introductions, and future vehicle programs, ensuring configuration and product definition are ready to support each stage of the program.
  • Establish and maintain configuration management standards and processes for BOM management, product configuration, engineering release, effectivity, and change control to ensure consistent and accurate product definition.
  • Drive continuous improvement of product development systems and processes by identifying recurring issues and developing scalable improvements to workflows, reporting, data quality checks, automation, and supporting tools that reduce manual effort, implementation time, cost, and downstream risk.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to quickly understand complex products, systems, and underlying data structures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to identify inconsistencies, investigate root causes, and develop practical solutions.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to changing requirements, and work effectively in a fast-paced product development environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a proactive approach to learning, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with PLM, PDM, BOM management, configuration management, or engineering change management.
  • Experience with Siemens Teamcenter, Siemens NX, Jira, Excel, Power BI, or equivalent tools.
  • Experience in automotive, aerospace, advanced manufacturing, robotics, or another complex engineered-product environment.
  • Understanding of manufacturing and supply chain processes and their relationship to engineering product definition.
  • Experience working with structured datasets, reporting, and data quality controls.
  • Scripting, programming, or automation experience using Python, SQL, VBA, Power Automate, or similar tools.
  • Experience improving technical processes, workflows, or engineering systems.

Work Environment

  • This position operates in a fast-paced product development and low-volume manufacturing environment where future product development occurs in parallel with ongoing production.
  • The role includes frequent computer-based work with engineering systems, technical documentation, product data, and large datasets, with occasional work in production and warehouse environments.
