What You’ll Be Doing

As a VMware Engineer, you’ll be responsible for architecting, configuring, and sustaining cutting-edge virtual environments in support of highly secure operations. Your role will blend deep technical knowledge, creative problem-solving, and a hands-on approach to maintaining performance, stability, and security across our ESXi infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement system architecture for new and existing VMware environments

  • Install, configure, and manage key VMware components:

    • vSphere

    • ESXi 6.7/7.0/8.0

    • VMware Aria Automation (vRA)

    • VMware Aria Operations (vROps)

    • NSX/NSX-T

  • Perform systems engineering tasks including troubleshooting, patching, monitoring, and hardware support

  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for virtual environments

  • Support operational readiness, including Certification & Accreditation (C&A) processes

  • Respond to technical support requests and provide Tier II/III troubleshooting for both Windows and Linux systems

  • Participate in off-hours maintenance and on-call support as needed

  • Serve as a liaison between engineering teams and customers, helping to translate requirements into reliable solutions

  • Lead or mentor less experienced engineers, and serve as technical lead for tasks or projects


What You Bring to the Team

Required:

  • 5+ years of systems engineering experience, focused on VMware technologies

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)

  • Active TS/SCI clearance

  • Hands-on expertise with:

    • VMware ESXi 6.7/7.0/8.0

    • VMware Aria Operations and Automation (8.x)

    • VMware NSX/NSX-T

    • Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019/2022

    • Windows 10/11 and Unix/Linux systems

  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, LAN, Active Directory, GPO

  • Ability to support and troubleshoot both Windows and Linux virtual environments

  • Experience working within highly secure, classified environments

  • Ability to author and maintain clear, technical documentation

Preferred Certifications & Skills:

  • VMware and/or Cisco UCS certifications (preferred, not required)

  • Cloud experience (AWS, Azure)

  • Familiarity with Cisco UCS Cloud Platform

  • Experience creating workflows and blueprints in VMware Aria Automation

  • Familiarity with ServiceNow

  • Technical writing and clear communication skills

  • Prior experience supporting Intelligence or DoD customers

  • Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. The salary range for this position is typically $135-145k. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
