VP of Enterprise Business Operations

Arlington, VA

🌱 About Dandelion Energy

Dandelion Energy is transforming how homes are heated and cooled—starting from (below) the ground up. As the nation’s leading residential geothermal company, we design, install, and maintain all-in-one heating and cooling systems that are cleaner, quieter, and up to 4x more efficient than traditional HVAC, with a focus on large, scaled deployments to large homebuilders. We’re an ambitious (and growing) team on a mission to revolutionize home heating.

Backed by Google Ventures (GV) and other top tech investors, our end-to-end geothermal solution is breaking the status quo of residential heating and cooling technology, and we’re scaling rapidly to meet demand. Whether we’re serving national homebuilders or individual homeowners, our mission is the same: to make geothermal the default choice for heating and cooling in the U.S.

📌 About the job:

Dandelion Energy is looking for a VP of Enterprise Business Operations to lead the evolution and scaling of our business operations across Sales Engineering, Design, and Project Management. In this newly created role, you will lead the Sales Engineering organization and own process design, tooling, forecasting, and operational maturity across a growing footprint of enterprise geothermal projects in 5-10 states. You’ll work cross-functionally with leaders in Sales, Product, Engineering, Accounting, and Implementation to drive quality, efficiency, and growth—with a clear goal of reaching 10,000 homes per year. This role reports directly to the Senior Vice President of New Construction.

🛠️ Responsibilities:

Scale and lead the Sales Engineering function

  • Hire, train, and retain top-tier sales engineers and build a high-performance, high-ownership team culture.
  • Define and execute the operating model (e.g. SE-to-Sales ratios, engagement by deal stage) in partnership with the Sales team.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point and build personal knowledge to support design conversations with senior buyers at key enterprise accounts.

Improve and scale project design systems and processes

  • Partner with the Design team to improve internal software and processes to enable higher design output with better accuracy.
  • Automate and streamline hand-offs from design to Sales, Accounting, Project Management, and Drilling.
  • Improve Salesforce and design software implementations to better support cross-functional visibility and scale.

Enhance project management operations and tooling

  • Work with the Project Management team to improve and implement systems for:
    • QA/QC tracking of subcontracted and internal work
    • Subcontractor and Dandelion scheduling
    • Milestone tracking and data collection for billing
  • Drive operational excellence in field execution through better data visibility and accountability.

Lead operational forecasting and KPI tracking

  • Develop dashboards, tools, and reporting to support forecasting, planning, and KPI visibility across Sales Engineering, Design, and Project Management.
  • Own forward planning and resource modeling for all three functions.
  • Ensure shared visibility of metrics and plans across executive and departmental stakeholders.

🎯 You will thrive in this role if you have:

  • A process-driven mindset and strong planning instincts
  • Clear communication and sound judgment
  • A proactive, curious, and collaborative approach
  • Experience leading and motivating cross-functional technical teams
  • Comfort with ambiguity — you bring structure to evolving challenges and aren’t afraid to dive in
  • A scrappy, resourceful spirit — you’re hands-on when needed and thrive in fast-moving environments
  • A knack for simplifying complexity and connecting dots across teams, tools, and goals
  • The ability to balance strategic thinking with tactical execution to keep teams aligned and moving

✅ Must-haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a technical discipline
  • 8+ years experience scaling technical sales or construction operations in a high-growth environment
  • 4+ years experience evaluating and implementing enterprise software systems across departments
  • Proven success building and tracking KPIs across sales and operations functions
  • Familiarity with construction, energy, or HVAC industries

🌟 Bonus points for:

  • Experience in residential, geothermal, solar, or adjacent clean energy technologies
  • Expertise in Salesforce, project management software, and design engineering tools
  • A background in enterprise customer negotiations or B2B construction sales

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
