Security Analyst (Junior)

Dark Wolf Solutions is seeking a Junior Security Analyst to support the Unified Platform Cyber Operations & Security Center (COSC) in San Antonio, TX. The Junior Security Analyst will assist in monitoring, triaging, and analyzing cybersecurity events across multi-tenant, cloud-native, and hybrid mission environments.This role provides an excellent opportunity for an early-career cybersecurity professional to develop skills in threat detection, incident response, vulnerability management, and operational security monitoring under the mentorship of senior cybersecurity staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor security alerts through the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platform to identify potential incidents.
  • Perform initial triage and basic analysis of security alerts, escalating incidents to senior analysts as necessary.
  • Review logs from firewalls, endpoints, and network devices to support detection of anomalies and security events.
  • Assist with vulnerability scanning activities, analyze basic scan results, and support remediation tracking.
  • Maintain security incident documentation and assist in updating case management and reporting systems.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts in detection engineering, SOC procedures, and cybersecurity playbooks.
  • Participate in threat intelligence monitoring and assist with research on emerging threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with senior team members on incident investigations, post-incident analysis, and after-action reporting.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in cybersecurity operations, help desk security support, or incident analysis.
  • Familiarity with SIEM platforms (Elastic Stack, Splunk, LogRhythm, or equivalent).
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPNs) and security principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow documented incident response procedures and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • US Citizenship required with an active Secret clearance or interim Secret clearance.

Desired Qualifications

  • Entry-level cybersecurity certifications such as Security+, CySA+, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, OpenVAS) and basic security monitoring tools.
  • Basic scripting or automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) are a plus.
  • Exposure to Department of Defense cybersecurity environments or familiarity with NIST security frameworks is desirable.

The estimated salary range is $85,000.00 - $105,000.00, commensurate on experience, technical expertise, certifications, and clearance level.

Primary work location is San Antonio, TX. Hybrid model with a mix of remote and on-site support; on-site presence required for classified system activities.
