Cloud System Administrator

Dark Wolf Solutions is seeking a Cloud System Administrator to support the United States Air Force Sentinel Systems Directorate. A successful candidate should be a leader and problem solver with a proven ability to deliver superior results as part of a high performing team in a fast-paced environment. This position requires onsite support at Hill Air Force Base, UT. Main responsibilities include:

  • Maintain and administer cloud-based infrastructure (primarily AWS), ensuring system reliability, security, and optimal performance.
  • Manage and support Linux-based cloud instances, including updates, patching, configuration, and system hardening.
  • Utilize Docker to build, deploy, and manage containerized applications across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Orchestrate and maintain container workloads using AWS services like ECS, EKS, and Fargate, ensuring proper scaling, health checks, and resource management.
  • Monitor container performance, manage logging, and troubleshoot issues in containerized environments.
  • Leverage infrastructure as code (Terraform) to provision and manage infrastructure with consistency and repeatability.
  • Utilize Ansible for configuration management and automation of system deployments and maintenance tasks across multiple environments.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to streamline updates, patch deployments, and configuration rollouts using tools such as AWS CodePipeline and CodeDeploy.
  • Monitor systems using AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and AWS Config, identifying and addressing system health, performance issues, and compliance risks.
  • Enforce cloud security best practices, including IAM policy management, VPC configuration, encryption standards, and firewall rules.
  • Troubleshoot system and network issues, supporting daily operational stability and providing incident response for critical alerts.
  • Work closely with DevOps and development teams to ensure infrastructure supports application reliability, scalability, and security needs.
  • Analyze usage patterns and optimize resources for cost-efficiency and system performance.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience managing cloud-based infrastructure and systems, especially on AWS.
  • 2+ years of experience with Linux systems administration, including performance tuning, patching, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Docker, including creating images, managing containers, and troubleshooting issues in containerized environments.
  • Familiarity with container orchestration tools and platforms (ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes) in production environments.
  • Proficiency with automation tools such as Terraform (IaC) and Ansible (configuration management).
  • Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar, for system automation and diagnostics.
  • Solid understanding of networking, firewalls, and security best practices in cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and practical experience supporting deployment pipelines.
  • Experience supporting government or defense clients (DoD, IC, Law Enforcement) is a plus.
  • SAP experience is a preferred asset for managing and supporting enterprise-scale systems.
  • Security+ certification. 
  • U.S. Citizenship and an active Top Secret/SCI clearance

This position is 5 days a week on site at Hill Air Force Base, UT.
