Test Engineer
Herndon, VA
Dark Wolf Solutions is seeking a mid-level Test Engineer to support the test and evaluation of cutting-edge communication technologies for defense and national security customers. This engineer will assess rapid prototyped technologies, evaluate mobile and tactical network systems, and support field deployments through hands-on field testing and technical documentation. This role is based in the DC Metro/Northern Virginia area and will require travel to customer sites and test ranges.
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3 - 5 years of experience supporting technical systems or programs in a field, lab, or operational setting.
- Demonstrated experience with at least two of the following technologies:
- 5G/LTE or private cellular networks
- Tactical radio systems (e.g., TrellisWare, Silvus, L3Harris, etc.)
- Cloud-based infrastructure or edge compute environments
- Cybersecurity or red team/vulnerability assessments
- Experience supporting test events or field trials, including data collection, system configuration, and post-test analysis.
- Exceptional technical writing skills; capable of clearly communicating findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Comfortable interfacing with government customers, technical leads, and multi-vendor teams.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- US Citizenship and ability to obtain Secret clearance.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time for on-site work and testing.
- US Citizenship and an active Secret security clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
- Prior experience supporting the Department of Defense, especially SOF or IC communities.
- Familiarity with RF systems, network routing, or IP-based communications.
- Experience working on multi-disciplinary teams conducting rapid prototyping or operational experimentation.
This role is based out of Northern, VA/DC Metro Area.
The salary range for this position is estimated to be between $120,000.00 - $150,000.00, commensurate on experience and technical skillset.
